This is a Virtual DNAC Lab version 2.3.5.3 (latest version) that can be used for any CCIE Lab Exam. It\'s built using a Dell R630 Server w/ 256GB RAM (up to 768GB) + 4TB SSD with VMware ESXi 6.5The Dell R630 is a Powerful Server with 2 x 18-Core Processors (Xeon E5-2699v3).With 36 Cores between both Processors, this Server actually has 72 vCPU\'s

Although theseProcessors are enough for this DNAC Lab, they can be upgraded to the a higher version (80 or 88 vCPU\'s).

The new version of the CCIE EI Lab Exam (ver 1.1) includes several changes.

The previous URL also mentions the need for some Physical Equipment (4 x Physical Switches)

However, for most Lab Exercises these Physical Switches can also be replaced with Virtual ones

Therefore, this Lab includes Virtual LAN Switches using the IOSv-L2 Software through the EVE-NG VM.

Having Virtual IOSv-L2 Switches ready to go in the EVE-NG VM allows you to use this Lab it right away without having to buy Physical Switches!However, please notice that Cisco recommends using Physical Switches because the IOSv-L2 Software doesn\'t provide some of the advanced functions needed for the Lab.IOSv-L2 Switches are good enough to provide basic connectivity and some basic L2/L3 functions. This should be enough to do some basic Lab Exercises.But if you want to do more complex Lab Exercises (like advanced Switching and SD-Access), then you may want consider getting 4 x Physical SwitchesPhysical Switches can be connected to the Server at any time and they can be easily combined with Virtual Routers.

EVE-NG Virtual EVE-NG Virtual Machine (VM) is an optional component of this Lab.

EVE-NG Community Edition is a Network Simulator that doesn’t need a License; that is, it’s a Free Product! When you add this VM to the DNAC Lab, you\'ll get full SD-WAN functionality! That is, you\'ll get all the Network Nodes needed to implement a Viptela SD-WAN Network version 20.9.3 (as required by the new CCIE EI Lab Exam ver 1.1)This includes SD-WAN Controllers, also known as Control Plane Components, and WAN Edge Nodes:- vBond
- vSmart
- vManageWAN Edge Nodes, also known as the Data or Forwarding Plane Devices, can be implemented in 2 ways:- vEdge Cloud Routers
- CSR1000v Cloud Routers (SD-WAN version)

In our EVE-NG VM you\'ll find a Fully Configured and ready to use Sample SD-WAN NetworkThis is done just to demonstrate the full SD-WAN functionality of our EVE-NG VM.

We provide all the Configuration Files that you can use to build your own SD-WAN Network.

Our EVE-NG VM also includes the following Virtual Devices:

- CAT8000v Routers (version 17.9.3a)
- CAT9000v Switches (version 17.10.1)So you can use these Virtual Devices either as independent VM\'s or inside EVE-NG

Combining Virtual Routers with Virtual or Physical Switches:

As mentioned before, the EVE-NG VM is also used to implement 4 x IOSv-L2 SwitchesBut in addition to these Switches, the EVE-NG VM also includes a set of 10 x IOSv Routers That is, this Lab includes 2 sets of Virtual Routers:- 10 x CAT8000v Routers (built as Independent VM\'s)
- 10 x IOSv-L3 Routers (built inside the EVE-NG VM)So you could use either set of Virtual Routers, both of which can be connected to the set of Virtual SwitchesAnd if you add Physical Switches to the Lab, the Routers could be connected to either set of Switches (Virtual or Physical)

So you\'ll have 4 potential combinations:- CAT8000v Routers (CAT8Kv) connected to Virtual Switches
- CAT8000v Routers (CAT8Kv) connected to Physical Switches
- IOSv-L3 Routers connected to Virtual Switches
- IOSv-L3 Routers connected to Physical SwitchesOf course you may also add extra Virtual Routers (CAT8Kv or IOSv) and extra IOSv Switches!Thus, this item provides a very flexible Lab environment with many configuration options!

CML-2 VM:This Lab also includes a CML-2 VM because INE uses CML for many of their Lab Exercises.But CML-2 is a Licensed product sold directly by Cisco; its price for a 1-Year CML-2 License for $200.The CML-2 VM included in this Lab doesn\'t have a License though.CML-2 is just an optional element of this Lab and there is no real need to buy a License for it.

However, you may be able to enable to 90-Day Demo License

And you could use the EVE-NG VM instead of CML-2 for almost all Lab Exercises!

Upgrade Options:We strongly advise upgrading RAM so that you can load & run additional Applications.

RAM can be expanded from 256GB to 384GB, 512GB or 768GB.

As previously stated, this Server includes a pair of Xeon E5-2699v3 Processors (72 vCPU\'s total)

But they can be upgraded to:E5-2698v4 (80 vCPU\'s total) or E5-2699v4 (88 vCPU\'s total)

You may also ask for an upgrade to a Full CCIE EI Lab, in which case we\'ll install all optional VM\'s

Keep in mind that a full CCIE EI Lab would work with either Virtual Switches (IOSv-L2 Software) or with Physical Switches.Physical Switches allow you to work on some advanced features not available in the IOSv-L2 Software.
