Condition: well above average given it\'s age. There\'s some light cracking around the hinges at the base of the screen. I dressed it with a little bit of electrical tape in order to take the pressure off the hinges when opening and closing the lid. Minor wear and tear such as light surface scratches on the top and bottom. All components work, such as the DVD drive and Floppy drive (yes, it has a floppy!)
There\'s a PCMCIA expansion card for a few USB ports. I found it works better with a wider range of USB sticks than the motherboard integrated USB ports. The expansion card supports newer gens of USB sticks than the integrated ports do.
I have two batteries: 1 is dead/non-functional, the other holds a 50% charge. Wall charger included, no issues with it.
There\'s an added wireless card on the lid. It\'s functional, but doesn\'t support WPA. There\'s a driver out there that supposedly does this, but I\'ve been unable to find it. I have the original facia cover if you wanted to remove the wireless card altogether.
Lastly, I purchased two of these - brand new - in 2001-ish. The first one broke, so I\'ve been using it for parts to keep this one alive and well. There\'s still a lot of parts left on it (DVD Writer, CPU, etc) than can be used, and I\'ll include it with this laptop. If so desired.
The laptop was wiped and reinstalled with WinXP Pro and some other programs and utilities; Tor, Hexchat, CPU-Z, HWiNFO, OpenVPN, OpenOffice, VLC, etc. I installed many useful or interesting programs as I could that are known to be compatible and left the installer files in the Downloads folder. Many programs these days require SSE2 instruction sets or greater as well as multithreaded support - which this laptop doesn\'t have.
This is an old, but very functional device. A little piece of history, if you will. :)
