Ok, I am getting bad reviews because someone though the computer was for sale for $29.

The computer shows you that it works. Please read.

Compaq SLT Power Supply for a 286 or 386. No Computer included

This is only for powering the unit. Not charging the battery. I doubt anyone has a working battery. I have a company working on that and will let you know.

Make sure to follow the pictures on how to insert and in what direction.

Not responsible for any damage to your unit. I test these on my 286 and 386 units before shipping.

To make the connection fit better, I wrap black tape on the end until it fits just right. I will leave that up to you.

I also super glue the power end to the side of the unit for easy access and to keep everything in place.

Update: 2/6/2024

I have made changes to the plug to make it fit without adding black tape. It fits snug just being pushed into the pins.

I am also using professionally crimped pins instead of hand crimping myself.

You will have to give it a good push to get it over the 6 pins.

Be careful to make sure the pins are aligned with the connector so you don't damage your pins on the computer.

I am hoping to 3D print a plug shell, but this is working great the way it is for now.

I am happy that this is working for everyone. I hope those that could never power there units on can do so now.

I also feel safer then the old 30+ year old power supply, and I can now power up both my 286 and 386 at the same time. I like to launch the programs at the same time and have them race. Interesting enough, the 286 runs some games that the 386 won't. I haven't tracked it down yet. I have tried them on other 386 Compaq SLT's and it is the same. So the 286 will run everything and the 386 wont. Very odd. Example "Day of the Tentacle" runs on the 286 not the 386.

For those with a dead real time clock, I have fixed many of these units. De-Soldering and putting in one with a button-battery is the best way to go. Then you will be able to truly revive these laptops. Also installing a CF card works great. I have two CF cards in each of my units. One has it sticking out the 2nd floppy port so I can add games quickly. Each one gives me 300MB of storage.

Well have fun, and have fun with your new powered SLT.....

UPDATE 2/10/2024

If after you install the new power supply and your "LOW" indicator on the front is flashing, That means that the laptop is not getting enough power. When running a program it may just reboot. The fix for this is to unscrew wire from the terminal and strip back the wire farther so it has better contact. I am now using Ferrules on the ends so the wire makes better contact. If you are not able to fix this yourselves, I can send you a new wire with Ferrules. I do test every set I send out, But this is a "just in case". I want this to work 100% for your SLT.

UPDATE 2/15/2024

So the male female plug seems to be a bit tricky. If you get a LOW flashing light, just unplug and replug the male female plug in different positions. I have been able to make the LOW light turn on and off.

This is a manufactured plug, so I may need to look for a more reliable one. But it works fine once you get the LOW light to turn off. This is not the 6 pin plug on the laptop. This is the one on the power supply.

I have updated pictures to show you the new connector and the two male female plugs.
