The system is a 386 SX 16 with 8 Mb of RAM, 60 Mb hard disk drive, OPTi 930 soundblaster compatible sound card/Modem (Yamaha OPL chip), built in video card and a 1.44 Mb floppy. When I got it, it had no power switch (just fired up when you plugged it in) so I repaired the power switch, and during testing, smoke started coming out of the power supply - I noticed the sticker that said to NOT change the switch by itself (replace the whole PS) after I did this. Nothing shorted but the smell was acrid. I replaced the power supply with an ATX unit through a converter and ran it to the switch I repaired. The switch is recessed about 3/8ths of an inch but is easily accessible. I also replaced the floppy drive as the eject mechanism broke when I went to remove a diskette. Other than that, I removed some personal files off the machine and replaced them with games. The original install of Windows 3.1 is in tact, as is DOS 6. The previous owner did a bit of memory management. I added the modem/soundcard combo, a small footprint keyboard (has a nice click to it when typing on it, not quite a model M but reminiscent), a very nice Logitech PS/2 mouse, some speakers, and an LCD Dell monitor.
This is a great retro gaming machine, or for industrial applications.Specs:
