The“IBM 705” computer was one of the most powerful data processing systems of themid-1950s. It is designed primarily for handling business data. It weighed 10tons, had a central memory capacity of 40KB and cost $1,460,000. That computerwas the first to be acquired in FNR Yugoslavia, in 1960 by the then FederalBureau of Statistics. It was used primarily for the processing of the 1961population census, and later for other statistical research.

Kompjuter“IBM 705” je bio jedan od najmoćnijih sistema za obradu podataka sredinom1950-ih. Dizajniran je prvenstveno za rukovanje poslovnim podacima. Bio jetežak 10 t, imao je kapacitet centralne memorije od 40KB i koštao je 1.460.000dolara. Taj računar je bio prvi koji je nabavljen u FNRJ, i to 1960. godine odstrane tadašnjeg Saveznog zavoda za statistiku. Korišćen je pre svega za obradupopisa stanovništva 1961, a kasnije i za druga statistička istraživanja.
