Please scroll down read the below frequently asked questions, BEFORE EMAILING ME for the first time. Odds are, your questions about 32 bit and 64 bit and other questions are answered in the below FAQ's. Also, please read our FAQ on the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit.

If you are nervous about installing it on your hard drive and wiping out your old system before you've had a chance to try it out fully, have no fear. Ubuntu has an option where you can run the operating system from the DVD first to try it out and see if you like it. After you boot from the DVD, you will get an option to either try it out by running it from the DVD, or installing it on your hard drive. Try it out first by playing with it and you'll see how much you like it. And if it doesn't suit you, simply pull out the DVD and restart your computer and your old operating system will boot.

So What's New in the latest release?

Ubuntu continues to build on each previous release with each new release. The idea of continues improvement never goes away. While there are many changes within this latest version, they are evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

But that’s not a bad thing, for example the Unity interface has matured into a dependable and intuitive work tool; the default application set has been rethought; and the new login screen ‘fits’ the overall style of the Unity desktop. All relatively minor or subtle changes on their own by all add up to a greater cohesive whole.

This latest release of Ubuntu is designed to work beautifully on the latest laptops, desktops and touch screen devices, it looks incredible on high resolution screens — and with touch screen enhancements and interface refinements including individual menu bars in each application window, it’s now even easier to use.

Web Apps
If you use web applications like Facebook, Gmail or Flickr, you’re in for a treat. You can now pin them to the Launcher on the Ubuntu desktop, so you can launch them with a single click. No more starting a browser, clicking on a bookmark and then logging in. Just go straight into the app, as if it was installed on your computer.

New Online Search
In Ubuntu, the Dash has always let you search your computer for your files, photos and videos. But now it does more than just search your computer - it can search all your online accounts too. So, once you’ve saved the login details in the ‘Online Accounts’ function, you can expect to see your Flickr photos, Google Drive documents and more in your search results, alongside the files on your computer.

Dash Previews
Ubuntu aims to take the effort out of everything. Now, you can preview your search results in the Dash to see more options, without having to open more windows. Preview an album in the Ubuntu One Music Store and you’ll get the option to play tracks straight from the preview. And when you preview an app in the Ubuntu Software Centre, you can install it with just one more click.

The Heads-up Display (HUD) The new HUD gives you a fast alternative to the traditional, menu-based way of telling your computer what to do. Instead of clicking on menu items to give it instructions, you just press one key to bring up the HUD and start typing what you want to do. You’ll then get a list of functions, without ever needing to know in which menu they live.

The Video Lens

The new Video Lens makes it easier than ever to find the videos you want to watch. Just click on the icon on the Dash and enter your text to search. Whether it’s stored on your computer, on YouTube or anywhere else, you’ll soon see a list of matching content.

The Ubuntu Software Center gives you instant access to thousands of apps. With the new redesign, you can see the top-rated apps, compare apps by rating and user reviews, keep track of what you’ve installed, and sync your apps between all your Ubuntu computers.

Easy to find, install, and remove if necessary! And now you can buy apps too. Browse software in categories including: education, games, sound and video, graphics, programming and office. All the applications are easy to find, easy to install and easy to buy.

The dash

When you click on the Ubuntu logo in the top-left corner of the launcher, the new dash will appear. It’s another simple way to get to your shortcuts and search for other applications and programs. So you can get fast access to your email, music, pictures and much more. And you can search by type of app or file with our new filters menu.

The launcher

It’s pretty hard to miss the launcher that sits on the left-hand side of your screen. It’s designed to make getting to your favorite tools and applications quick and easy. You can hide and reveal it, add and remove applications and bookmarks, and keep track of your open windows.

Application switching

Ubuntu gives you a really easy way to manage multiple windows and applications. You can use Alt + Tab and Alt + Grave to switch between applications or application windows. No more cramping multiple apps into a small space.

Full Office Suite included:

Ubuntu comes with a full Office suite comparable to MS Office, with the main difference is that the Ubuntu office suite is free. You can edit and create Word applications, Spreadsheets, presentations, and everything else an Office suite can do. It is fully functioning with no limitations.

The Word Processor has everything you would expect from a modern, fully-equipped word processor or desktop publisher. It's simple enough for a quick memo and powerful enough to create complete books with contents, diagrams, indexes, etc. You're free to concentrate on your message - while Word Processor makes it look great. The Wizards feature takes all the hassle out of producing standard documents such as letters, faxes, agendas, minutes, or carrying out more complex tasks such as mail merges.

Spreadsheet is the program you've always wanted. Super Easy to Install:

You need not be a computer expert to install a new operating system. Linux Ubuntu is designed to be easy to install and to try out. Simply follow these easy instructions:

1. Set your computer to boot from the DVD. This is accomplished by going into the bios settings on startup. When your machine boots up, before it launches windows, get into your bios by repeatedly tapping the DEL key, or ESC key, or one of the FN keys (this varies by manufacturer, there is usually a brief display on bootup that tells you which key to hit to entire the bios).

2. Once in your bios, simply navigate to a screen that allows you to set the order of which devices your computer boots from first. Set it to boot from the DVD first.

3. Install the Linux DVD, save your bios settings, and reboot.

The only instructions included with this disk is a brief installation guide that can be found online. The address for the guide is printed on the disk label.

The Linux start screen will start and lead you through the start up procedure. Its that simple.

Catalog Number and disclaimer

This disk contains software that is Open Source, that is in full compliance with the GPL License agreement. We are authorized to distribute this disk and its contents. This operating system can be freely installed on as many systems as you wish as long as the (GNU) General Public License is followed and agreed upon.

This is not a boot limited, OEM, shareware, bootleg or trial version, There is no activation or CD key required to install this software. This DVD-ROM does not come in a retail box as Linux is an Open Source OS. Installation is as simple as inserting the DVD and rebooting your computer as discussed in this listing. A copy of the license for this software is included with the software package. Software does not come in a retail box. Software is shipped with disk only in a paper sleeve and a mailer. All manuals and documentation is loaded on the disk.

Frequently Asked Questions and TERMS (PLEASE READ):

Please scroll up for a second and look at my price. I want you to take that price into consideration when reading this FAQ's. After the cost of the DVD, the mailer, postage, fees, paypal fees, etc., I'm only making a couple of bucks a sale. The only way I can keep on doing this is to streamline the process. Please read through these FAQ's and Terms of Sale prior to EMAILING ME with questions. ODDS ARE, 90% of the questions I get asked, I've answered here, so if the answer to your question is here, you will not get a reply. Sorry, but I have to streamline, and I wrote this long, rambling, FAQ to answer as many questions as I could before they are asked, so here goes:

1. Please understand the requirements of your computer PRIOR to offerding. It is your responsibility to know whether you need a 64 bit or 32 bit operating system. We get emails from time to time from customers who bought a 32 and need a 64 or who bought a 64 and need a 32 and want to exchange them. We are not WalMart. It is not our fault if you buy the wrong item, we send to you what you bought, the postage was already spent, we can't resell the DVD we sent to you, so were are not going to take a loss just because you couldn't figure out what you needed. So if you buy the wrong item, then you need to accept responsibility, and buy the one you need and please don't ask us to exchange it for you if you buy the wrong one! Again, if you want a full service return policy, go buy a copy of Windows at Best Buy. Please do not ask me what the difference is between 32 and 64 either, or send me the specs to your computer and then ask me to explain to you what system you need for your computer, or whether it will work better with this CPU or that CPU, or what not, I do not respond to those types of questions. I don't have the time to research your question and make a recommendation for your computer system. Please be considerate and understanding here, that if I sent you what you ordered, you can't just exchange if because you ordered the wrong thing. We are not a full service computer support company. I distribute Linux DVD's only, and only make a couple of bucks a sale, so there is no way I can afford to provide support for the product. If you are going to be unreasonable about that, then I respectfully ask that you shop elsewhere.

2. If you get a message when you install this DVD, something like "this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU", that means you bought the 64 bit version and you have a 32 bit machine. If you bought a 64 bit and your system is a 32 bit, then you are the one that screwed up! So, accept responsibility and either come back and buy a 64 bit from me, or go buy it from someone else, but don't ask me if you can send your disk back to me and exchange it. What am I supposed to do with the disk after you've already used it once and it has gone through the mail? Would you be happy if I sent you a used disk that someone else has sent back to me?

3. I do not know whether your specific game or software will run on Linux. Some software runs on Linux, some doesn't. There is usually a similar type of software available for Linux that there is for windows. There is no way for me to know every single piece of software out there, so I can't answer those types of questions. Same goes for specific pieces of hardware/drivers and so forth. I can not answer compatibility questions for obvious reasons. Some pieces of hardware on your system may not have the right drivers easily available for Linux. You will have to dig and search for them. I don't have them, and I can't look for them. That's part of the process of installing Linux. It is more of a do-it-yourself type of system as opposed to a full service package of Windows 7 that will run you 600 bucks.

4. Linux is a standalone operating system that can be installed on a bare, clean drive. No previous operating system is required. It can wipe clean an old hard drive, regardless of what was one it, and install on it as a clean drive.

5. System requirements are very mild for Linux. Linux is not a resource hog like Windows. The minimum recommended requirements are a 700 Mhz processor, 384 MB RAM, 8 GB of Disk space, Graphics card capable of 1024x768 resolution. Most modern systems less then a few years old will have no issues running Linux. Computers that are over 5 years old may have issues running newer versions of Linux. If you are unsure whether or not your machine can run Linux, please confirm this with your hardware manufacturer prior to purchasing. We cannot research whether your make or model is compatible. Please do not email us with your model and ask if it will work, we will refer you back to your manufacturer.

6. This version of Linux cannot be installed on a MAC and run on some windows simulator or partition. Mac's are Mac's, PC's are PC's. This version of Linux was designed to run on a PC only. Those trying to tweak something to get this to run on a MAC will be greatly disappointed. So, with that in mind, my official position as that this does not run on a MAC and I'm not going to accept questions or complaints if you still buy it, try to run it on a MAC, and then complain to me about it when it does not work. Linux is only designed to run on a PC based computer, no macs, no hand held devices, no specialty systems. It will install on a desktop PC or a laptop PC, period, that's it! I don't care what MAC operating system you have, or whether you have some PC simulator software on your MAC, or whatever workaround you think you got, my position is that this does not run on MACS.

7. I do not provide tech support after the sale. I will not help you with the setup. If you have problems with the setup, look it up online, I don't have the time to walk people through problems for a 5 dollar item. I'm disclosing that up front right here, before you buy, so there are no expectations. This sale is only for a CD of a copy of Linux on it, there is no support offered, and no help promised to help solve technical problems.

8. The only instructions included with this disk is a brief installation guide that can be found online. The address for the guide is printed on the disk label.

9. Warranty Policy: All disks are guaranteed to be new in proper working order. Should your DVD arrive damaged or unreadable, we will replace it free of cost.

All items are shipped by USPS first class mail. In an effort to keep our costs down, that are passed along as low prices to you, all of our disks are packaged and shipped in economic sleeves and mailers. All of our disks are labeled with a clean label and some graphics. The disks are made this way for speed and cost, which translates into lower cost for you. We focus our efforts on the quality of the material on the disk. We do not believe in charging you an extra 3 or 4 dollars like some companies out there just to throw in a 25 cent plastic case and slap a color label on an item. We believe you purchase for content, and ours is the best, although we still believe you will be pleased with the presentation.

PLEASE READ ABOUT SHIPPING TIMES:

The estimated delivery dates shown above are 's estimates, not ours. Sometimes 's dates are completely unrealistic. Every effort is made to get your item out the next day, but once it leaves us, we ask that you please understand that we do not guarantee delivery by any date, since the USPS does not give us a guarantee either. Below is our estimates on what to expect:

USA CUSTOMERS: Most times, your package will arrive in about 1 week after we ship them depending on where you are at. However, lately the Post Office it seems has not been very cooperative with us and we've had a couple of customers wait a few days longer than that. If the item does not arrive, please email us directly and let us know, and we will make it right.

NON-USA CUSTOMERS: Same deal above, except your packages typically have been taking about 2 weeks or so after we ship them. We've noticed that maybe 20% of overseas customers have been waiting as long as 4+ weeks for these shipments. The only explanation we can come up with is that it must be stuck in some container in some dock waiting on customs clearance. It happens, and for those 20% of customers, we apologize, but there is very little we can do about that. Your disk will arrive or we will replace it.

Multiple items purchased by the same customer may or may not be shipped in the same package, at our discretion. We do not offer any additional discounts on multiple items other than the ones noted above.
