One other common quirk of these models is that either one of the CCFL bulbs illuminating the LCD panel are prone to go out at any time during temporary periods of inactivity, resulting in a slightly darker upper or lower half of the screen depending on which bulb failed.

As these unique displays are now over 20 years old and scarce of replacement parts, an easy workaround if this happens is to allow the display to run at maximum brightness for 15 minutes, and then simply disconnect and reconnect the ADC plug from / to the machine's graphics output.

Through the action of pre-heating the failed bulb's electronics, this procedure then effectively jumpstarts the bulb back to life for the remainder duration that the display remains active.
