PROCESSOR:AMD-K6 (Model 6) MMX Enhanced ProcessorThe AMD K6 is a superscalar Intel P5 Pentium-class microprocessor, manufactured by AMD, which superseded the K5. The K6 processor included a response dynamic instruction reordering mechanism, MMX instruction set (MMX registers are aliases for the existing x87 floating-point unit (FPU) registers, which context switches would already save and restore. Unlike the x87 registers, which behave like a stack, the MMX registers are each directly addressable random access), and a floating-point unit (FPU). It was also made pin-compatible with Intel's Pentium, enabling it to be used in the widely available "Socket 7"-based motherboards. Like the AMD K5, Nx586, and Nx686 before it, the K6 translated x86 instructions on the fly into dynamic buffered sequences of micro-operations. Its features include: seven execution units specialized in parallelized instructions; x86 Decoders that translate x86 Assembly to RISC86 instructions; IEEE 1149.1 Boundary Scan; Speculative execution optimization; Out of Order execution; and, Register Renaming.
The AMD K6 has 8.8 million transistors in 350 nm; L1-Cache: 32 + 32KB (data + instructions); MMX instruction set; Front side bus: 66MHz; First released: April 2, 1997; with a VCore: 3.2/3.3 V (233MHz) and true, not theoretical clockrate of 233MHz. Its clock multiplier is 3.5. The external cache is of the synchronous pipeline burst type and the amount is 256KB. An external cache is any cache memory that is not built into a CPU chip. External cache is designed to provide high speed data storage and processing services to the computer processor, its primary/native cache and the main memory. The development of caches is a key event in the history of computing. The system is designed to ensure that the next bit of data a CPU will need is ready in the cache when it is needed. The architecture and microarchitecture are: Instruction set – x86; micro-architecture – K6; Processor core – Model 6; Manufacturing process - .35 micron; Data width – 32-bit; Floating Point Unit – integrated; the Level 1 cache is 32KB code with pre-code cache and 32KB write-back data cache; Physical memory of 4MB; and Extensions and Technologies – MMX instructions.In floating point performance tests, the 233MHz AMD K6 MMX outperformed the Intel Pentium MMX 233MHz processor by 6.5%.In MMA/SSE/SSE2 performance tests, the processor outperformed the Intel Pentium MMX overdrive processor as well.

OPERATING SYSTEMThe operating system installed is currently Windows 2000 Professional (the most reliable of those we offer). However, you can choose 95, 98, 98SE (Second Edition) (recommended, because it is a stable edition and is faster than 2000 Pro on the low quantity 16MB of RAM currently installed) or Millennium (Me) Edition as well. You must make this know at the time of purchase via an message. Otherwise, it will ship with 2000 Pro.

VIDEOThe video chipset is Chips & Tech 65554 which included HiQVision architecture and hardware acceleration. Chips and Technologies provided the video card, a very high speed frame buffer that sat in a proprietary local bus slot on supported motherboards. This was popular with users as it was one of the highest performing video cards supported by the operating systems at that time. Video memory type was EOD and was 2MB dedicated VRAM.
