It has appropriate permissions for a variety of groups and is set to create new files in this directory with these permissions. The strange thing is that upon file creation, it doesn't create using those permissions. It creates with the currently logged on user, and a new set of permissions (SYSTEM, Local Admins, NETWORK SERVICE, etc.) An exception would be in the case of a user with administrative privs, as they just get the basic local system groups, without their user receiving permissions.

I imagine this is affecting us due to the fact our entire forums implementation is behind authentication. I guess in a case where it's all anonymous users, this isn't a big deal.

What is strange though, is that even though cache files, and other writable directories are set the same way, this only happens here.

I guess when all of these are created, any modifications, etc. at a later time will keep the same permissions. The issue is permissions that occur during initial creation. So, unless it deletes the old file and re-creates a new one, as opposed to just overwriting, I might be ok. I did take a spin through everything I could imagine, and then had that directory replace permissions on all child objects. I'll see if anyone experiences the blank content again.

Thanks,
Tim
