I'll PM you with a look at my classic board (still up) and the threads site I just completed and you can see that the colors are very versatile. However, I wanted to post a link that you will find very helpful for color selection

I do think it's difficult for a novice to try and change colors by #number specifications rather than the visual aid of actually seeing the color as was the case in classic. But what I did was open my classic board and look at the style colors there along with the numbers, which is very helpful for recreating the look you want with copy and paste.
