I do with facebook the same thing as with almost all my social networks, I make an account, and click accept when somebody wants to add me smile

Only thing I actively use is Twitter, and post pictures through it using the service http://mobypicture.com. Even got a little scriptlet that posts the pictures posted through mobypicture on my board.
