Actually, it's not convenient. By intentionally delaying anything we end up losing more than we do gaining. People won't wait forever and because of the time it took to get version 7 to this point we've lost quite a few customers. We are in no way coming out ahead on this.
And we're definitely not stretching out the beta release just to get more renewals, again we don't gain anything by making this take any longer than necessary. We just want to make sure we have a stable product before calling it final. Renewals are always going to come up. Even if someone gets 7.0 right before their renewal expires, there is almost always a .0.1 release that follows afterwards to fix any bugs caught when everyone upgrades, so they'd have to renew then to get the update.
