I setup the Admin account, but everytime I try to login using that account, it gives me this message:

Sorry, we have no one registered with that name. Use your browser's back button to try again.

I checked my Members directory and the admin account I created is in there, but the forum won't recognise me. Please help!

What is the URL to your control panel? FTP into your server to the Members directory and open 00000001.cgi in a text editor. The first line in the file contains the username. Ensure that you are spelling it correctly. Note that usernames are case sensitive.

The URL is:
http://www.freaksforum.com/cgi1/cp.cgi

I checked the spelling and it is the same as I have been typing in in the control panel.

There is no administrator setup yet. I attempted to set a temporary one up, but when submitting the new name, it came up with a blank page. Ensure that the Members directory and member_test.cgi are set with 777 permissions.

Check memberslist.cgi (no not the hack) in the Members directory. Alot of people, including myself, are having trouble getting it to write the memberslist.cgi file.

If the file is blank, you are having the same problem.

I am also having the same problem. I have checked everything out. Anymore ideas? I locked out as well.

Well I did attempt to create one, and it shows in the member directory, the ubb just doesn't recognize it for some reason. The directory does have the proper permissions, and the files have been uploaded to the server in the correct mode. I don't know what's causing this but it's very frustrating.

Phoenix,

I checked for this file and it's not there at all. How do I create it?

AgentX, the file creates itself after the first member registers successfully. I haven't yet experienced this type of problem with any of my installations though, so if you'd like, you can email me your FTP information and I will see if I can find the problem.

If AgentX emails me their FTP information I should hopefully be able to find the problem.

Is this the problem fixed by Beta 7.1?

"Due to an inconsistancy between various versions and builds of Perl a number of you have experienced a problem where you would recieve a "member number not found" or "no profile found for" error upon entering your forums."

I'm having the same problem. After registration it shows blank page.
All the permissions are correct but it can't create memberslist.cgi. I'm using UBB6-b7.1

I'm having the same problem, and my permissions and directory settings all check out.

Looks like installation isn't the only time this happens. I gather from the following posts that it may be an issue of varying perl installations?

FYI, see these posts in the "UBB6 Bugs" forum:

Topic: UBB 6.0 cannot create new member files http://www.scriptkeeper.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=28&t=000103

Topic: New reg users problem? http://www.scriptkeeper.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=28&t=000096

And this thread in the "UBB6 Post Installation Troubleshooting" forum:

Topic: New Registration / Blank Screen http://www.scriptkeeper.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=31&t=000008

Looking forward to hearing about the fix. Thanks!
josh
