One of our users posted two messages that included a long unbroken string of chracters, and it caused the whole thread to ignore the auto word-wrap function. (Messages scrolled off the screen to the right side.) Any way to prevent this?

This is the designed behavior. To shorten the number of characters allowed in a string before it is broken up, adjust the String Length Limit in the Misc Settings area of the control panel. Please be advised that lowering this setting may break UBBCode links. Please see this topic for more information.

You should also consider upgrading to the latest release, 6.3.0.1.
