On our board, we have specified to hide user email addresses.

We can see that when folks register, they see the preference parameter to specify whether they want their email address to be hidden or viewable. Since we have set the board to not show emails, it seems like an unnecessary question.

Further, when one goes to edit one's profile, that preference is no longer shown -- so it couldn't be changed by the user at a later date.

Is this the behavior you would expect?

I guess that I can confirm that if the board setting for showing emails is still on, then the user preference shows up on the update page. If the board setting is set to hide emails, then the user is asked what they prefer when they register, but is not asked at update time.

The logic seems inconsistent.
