When I try to view an RSS feed generated by UBB.threads 7 I get this error message in FireFox:


For those that don't speak Spanish, that means, roughly, "Error reading XML: XML processing instruction not found at beginning of external entity. Location: https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/cache/rss1.xml Line 2, column 1".

That's what happens for the feed on this site:

And if I try in Safari I get this:


Which means, "Safari cannot open the page ... The following error occurred: 'Unknown error' NSURLErrorDomain:-1".

Needless to say, same thing happens for my own UBB.threads install.

This is on Safari 2.0.4 and Firefox 1.5.0.7 on Mac OS X 10.4.8.

Could this be a bug in UBB.Threads?

Yes, a bug in the rss generation template. If you edit templates/default/rss_xml.tmpl you'll notice there is an empty line on line 2. Remove the empty line, go into your RSS feeds in the control panel and update them and it will regenerate them without the blank line at the top that is causing the error.
