Hmm, are you using the default language encoding or have you modified that?

Header says it's ISO-8859-1, Rick. No changes in his meta tags.
What version of PHP and MySQL are you running? Not sure I'm onto something but always good to know what's being worked on.

Hi there.
PHP 4.3 running on Windows IIS (I know this is bad). If not running the site from Apache could be the cause then I'll make the effort to configure Apache on this machine also.
MySql 5.
Thanks, Dave

Hmm, has the default coallition been changed in MySQL at all? If you have something like phpmyadmin installed it should say what it's set to.
What I'd try is to look directly at the database. Look at one of the posts in question in the database, ubbt_POSTS table. See if it's storing the whole post in the database. That way we can figure out if it's a display issue or a sql issue.

Hello,
I can confirm that the posts are being truncated prior to being inserted into the database.
I have mySql tools installed (query browser etc) - can I find the coallition out from this?
Thanks, Dave

Probably the easiest thing would be to open up a support ticket with ftp info along with admin info for your site. This looks like something I'll need to do some direct debugging on to figure out the problem.

Hi Rick.
I have changed the collation like you suggested in your email. This seems to be an improvement, but posting of the £ sign still causes problems. Check it out, very weird, the posts truncate straight after any £ sign in the text.
Cheers for all your help.
Thanks, Dave

I'm still not exactly sure what's causing this. It's definitely passing the full post to mysql for insert but for some reason mysql isn't taking everything. We might have to try inserting a new row into the database directly from something like phpmyadmin to see if it will take the entire contents that way, so we can figure out if it's a mysql thing or a php thing or something in the code.
It's not something I've been able to fix in the code as it's passing everything to php's mysql_query() function properly, so it's getting that far without any problems.

I'm curious what the html varient of £ is; perhaps it's hardcoding it as £ vs its html varient will let it pass to mysql? I'm thinking it's perhaps an extended chatacterset issue in MySQL that's dying after £...

Hi Dave,
Can you open an actual support ticket on this? Last I had checked on yours the data wasn't going into the database, it was being stripped and only a portion of it was being stored.
