I've always wondered about the word "Pommey". It's used a lot in Australia when refering to Brits. I just found out recently that Brits hate it, but in Australia it's not meant in a derogatory way. Is that right driv? That you guys hate the word?

Speaking for myself, no probs at all.
I don't know if it used to be derogatory... but now I believe it's just kind of slipped into common parlance.
I've just spent quite a bit of time in Thailand drinking with Aussy guys who referred to Brits as poms every few minutes - there was nothing uncomfortable about it at all.
I think the US equivilent is limey?

I think the US equivilent is limey? Limey is commonly thought of as being a derogatory term. Brit isn't. Kind of odd to me that the British Navy was smart enough to take measures that prevent scurvy and those measures somehow became a derogatory term. Jealousy I guess.

Yeah, I tried it a few years ago but I found it too distracting whilst I was working and I didn't have any one to speak to anyway Now that work has slowed down a bit, I might try again. Still got no-one to speak to though

We use IM as a major communication tool at work, so heaps of work people on it. If I have it on at home, I'd be hassled with work stuff all the time. Shame really .. I used to chat to friends all the time. ICQ was the best though.

ICQ *was* the best, they went over the top featurewise.
Here in the netherlands, MSN is the clear winner now.

I dislike trillian, I LOVE Pidgin (formerly GAIM).
As for ICQ, it's basically AOL with numbers; in fact, you can use the AIM utility to onenct to ICQ :/
