UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums Resources and Customizing How Do I? Report-A-Post & PM E-Mail Notifications Not Working

A week ago the html server that hosts our UBB forum (7.2.2) had a major crash. It was replaced with a new html server, and was loaded from the back up done that morning. The database is kept on another server so it was unaffected. Since we went back online we have discovered that the "Report-A-Post" and "Private Message" e-mail notifications are not being sent. scripts/sendmessage.inc.php and scripts/sendprivate.inc.php both look ok and are at 777 with the same ownership as previously.

I remember this happening once before (sometime before 7.0), but it cleared up without me doing anything (and I concluded it was a change to a setting on the server that the host made without realizing it affected the forum).

Can anyone provide me with a recommended course of action? A list of things to check, either in the UBB software or (more likely) in the server settings? I've been reading what I can find in the searches but nothing seems close to this particular problem.

It sounds like something with the new server not sending out emails. If it's a windows server they may need to configure php.ini. You'll want to contact your host and find out if PHP has been configured to send out emails or if you need to use an SMTP server.

Thanks. I did that and they changed a setting in sendmail. PM e-mail notifications are now working again.
