There is no control panel setting to dissallow PM's. It would require editing all templates that references the PM system.

I'm sorry, I can't find the posts you need (tonight). However, I do remember that if you classify a 'problematic' member as a 'child' then IIRC they can't use the PM function. I'll take a look again tomorrow - if someone hasn't already answered you

I believe he wants to make it so no one can use a PM, and it'd be a waste to make everyone an "underaged" user lol...
The best bet is to remove the link to PM's via editing the public profile page, the header template, and the post template, and they won't see the option to pm anyone.

Besides what has already been suggested, one approach for now would be to censor any text (such as links) the spammer is trying to push.
I freakin' hate bastards like this that try to capitalize on your hard work building your community. I've dealt with some real scum bags.
Is this an actual person from a competitor or similar site that is spamming, or just one of those generic spambots trying to hock viagra or a sex site?

One of my feature sugguestions was a way for users to "alert" the admin to spam/advertising and abuse (via "Report Spam" or "Report Abuse") via a button on a PT; the resulting notice would show in the CP and when clicked the admin would get an overview of the PT so they could act accordingly on a case by case basis.
However, the general consensus was that it abused user privacy and people didn't want such a feature... Though if you ask me, it's no different than logging in as a user (via "become user") and looking at their PT's, only there would be some direction and only those topics with reported abuse would be viewable.

Gizmo, I remember your thread about that and like it.
I agree it should be a feature.

Lowlife vermin!
Good luck combating them.
If it gets really bad, feel free to PM for some tips on dealing with them.
