So, there are just a couple of text type items that I cannot figure out how to update. One is the text that is part of tabs like the "New Reply" tab right here above my post. I imported this forum's style, but unlike the cool bolded, aqua color of the "New Reply" text above, the text on my tab is brown and small and not bold. I cannot figure out where to update.

The second thing is the post subject. Whereas on this post, you'll see that my subject "Updating text items" is bold, aqua colored, probably a 12pt or 14pt font. On my forum that post subject is brown, not bold, and probably an 8pt font. I've figured out how to update the colors for categories, color for post subject in the category summary view, but cannot get this post section updated right. The way that I'm trying to do this is in style settings>post properties part of control panel. I'm changing the "subjecttable" font-size and color and nothing is changing. I've changed the "special link properties" of this also, but again no luck.

New reply is a link, so it would be how you style your extended stuff for tdheader, i believe.

Cool! That did it. Thank you again, Sirdude.

The second part of my post is still open, if anyone has suggestions.

that's the subjecttable class for when you actually view the topic..

or the alt-topicsubject or topicsubject or new-topicsubject or new-alt-topicsubject in postlist..

so depends upon where you are talking about smile

so, I've updated all of the fields referenced above (though I'm pretty sure it is the subjecttable class because it is where you view the topic), and no luck whatsoever.

There is currently only 1 post in my forum, but you can view what I mean by going here:

http://littlepilgrimsforums.com//ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1#Post1

You'll see that the post subject is small and brown (though it does not look this way in the Preview Area. in the preview area it is bold and aqua-colored, precisely as I've specificied through the control panel. Weird.

I know that Sirdude (hey - I just realized, is that kind of a take off of the old Stevie Wonder song, or no?) has given me the right advice for fixing, but it ain't fixing...

Edited to be clear that the subject of "about logging in" is what should not be small, brown, and ugly...(though I can live with this if I have to, so, no worries)

well, if you look @ it with firebug (FF add on), it's clear that you are overriding the b tag to be brown.

what are you doing loading default.css and loading it 2 times ?

just unstyle that tag or add a style for the b tag in your extra css, if you need this 'default.css' to be loaded ..

Code
<b>
<span id="subject0">About Logging In</span>
</b>

note that it's contained withing <b> tag wink

MAN! You just blew me away. I didn't know what HTML meant until 48 hours ago (I'm exaggerating, but only a little). I have no idea what your post means or what I should do. And I was doing so well....

lol.. well rather the further exaccerbate issues with a lengthy more geeky response..

just try this (for now)..

open up your style editor in cpanel..

go to "Extra Properties"

paste in:
Code
.subjecttable b {color: #0000FF;}

you should see blue now..

so what this is suggesting (if it worked for you) is that the b tag is being overridden somewhere.

i pointed to your default.css because it seems as if you must have other code loading along with your forum... that was my best guess as to a culprit.. smile

----

matter of fact, there seems to be a lot of brown elsewhere, so i'm thinking that this css file (littlepilgrims.com/css/default.css) is causing more issues smile

Well, I do have some other weird things going on, so, is it possible to remove that default.css file, and, if so, do you mind telling me how?

PS - I'm gonna try that paste you recommend right now. Thanks (again, and again)

I pasted that command in Extra Properties, but text is still brown. I really can live with it, though, so I would hate for anyone to use any intellectual energy on this.

well, you are loading in your header section the following:

Code
<!-- NEED THESE IN THE HEAD TAG OF THE SITE -->
<script src="http://www.littlepilgrims.com/js/default.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" rev="stylesheet" href="http://www.littlepilgrims.com/css/default.css" media="all" />
<!-- NEED THESE IN THE HEAD TAG OF THE SITE -->

someone felt it necessary to put those comments there... i don't know if you did or whether it came from somewhere else ?

also, it looks like that code is issued twice

must be some sorta whacky header include. dunno :shrug:

OHHHH. I gotcha (I think). I've pasted a header in to give my forum the same look and feel as my other Web site. My developers provided it to me. This header is specific only to the forum, so I can definitely remove stylesheet instructions from it that are overriding what I'm trying to accomplish through the control panel. Am I on the right track now?

You are right, Sirdude. It is there twice. It is in the static header and the static footer that I've pasted in the HTML Includes section of the general display options. When I remove that script, the style changes are working for me. Unfortunately, the headers and footers get messed up. I think they created this script so that it would pick up the header and footer from their server and not require me to store the media assets locally. For some reason, that includes some default stylesheet instructions. I've got a note into them to help me figure out how to pick up the header and footer info without grabbing default style info.

Thanks again for your help.
