Time to treat myself with a new monitor.
I was using a 18" LCD Flat Panel for a few years, but it finally conked out.
Looking to get a larger flat panel. What brands/models do you guys like?

I think a 22" make sense. Any larger, and I'm going to lose perspective on what the regular users see when working on pages.

Seriously though Viewsonic are very good - I have had a 21" LCD for the last 3 or 4 years.
Although I am not convinced that monitors are going to have much of a future.
My thinking is that within the next year, the vast majority of new computers are going to be laptops with very few desktops being sold. As a result the sale of monitors will continue to decrease.
They will purely be used for specialist use not too long into the future.
The next generation will probably be very confused as to why we used these big boxes LOL
Conversely TV screens are getting bigger - so I guess we will have more use of the TV to view the display of the laptop within the home.

Ian, I have several of the monitors you posted in my garage (the green ones) lol...
You know, they are doing a vast amount of work on alternative inputs (thinking to move a mouse for example); I wouldn't be suprised if we get to the point that monitors won't be useful anymore (sooner or later, likely later as they need to zap money from us somehow lol)

The problem with laptops is I can never decode between a 17" screen and a 12" screen I would like a large screen, but at the same time I would like something easy to carry around - of course the two do not go together.

i have 2 24" dell Ultrasharps.. and as for user perspective, just use the Web Developer toolbar in FF to set resolution to 1024x768 and you'll see what they see in the appropriately sized window.. so go for it and get 2 of these bad boys and you'll wonder how you lived with only one monitor for so long.. ps: i'm using 3 now

So do you have three monitor connectors on your PC then? I have seen dual, but never tipple connectors.

i have 2 graphics cards with 2 dvi outputs each.. so technically, i can go with 4 monitors.. the problem there is that i don't have the desk space for 4. i'd have to go vertical and i use ultramon to manage the desktop across all the monitors. works a peach :rawk:

I tend to work from a laptop all the time - only touch the desktop every other month or so - hate being stuck in the study - so make do with a laptop screen. I like the ability to being able to take my computer wherever I go - you can't do that with a desktop

I use AltDesk to emulate a multi monitor setup... When I'm working and need to talk to clients I just switch between desktops with the click of a button ...

Got it yesterday and hooked it up. Very nice! My video driver couldn't handle the mass so I had to update that. Love the extendable base. Next is to decide what new computer to get. But that's a whole other thread, especially if we're talking about Vista.
