There is another missing feature in threads: An easy way to Archive old posts. You can setup read only forums and move posts there but this is not a real archive function. It should put selected threads as one flat html ore one huge posts in the db with minimized layout just as reference. The html posts can be easy download and stored on CD.

The only problem with an Archive to HTML is that it will break any existing links to your post without some sort of Index to keep track and transition them to the HTML pages. Your only real savings would be in the posts table.
