I have a rather large board, but the server it's on could probably host several of these as it's a Dual Woodcrest with 4GB RAM.

I have a problem when editing larger posts (even just a few hundred words long), where the following error message shows up on a blank screen:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/mecz/public_html/forum/libs/ubbthreads.inc.php on line 838

Any ideas on how to fix this?

That's tough to say. Are you logging slow mysql queries? If so, you might check to see if it's throwing anything into that log. That would let us know if it's a particular query during the edit that's causing the problem.

Not sure WHY it lags, but you can edit the time by editing your php.ini and increasing it from 30 seconds

I also get a timeout (albeit a blank screen one) when purging topics in the CP. As soon as I select a dozen topics or more... I cannot purge.

As the server is quite powerful, which of the mysql config settings (buffors, etc.) would help in such cases, including the editing of medium size + posts?
