I currently have member access. But I currently renew each year. If I upgrade to the gold plan does that really mean that I have access to the members area til the end of time for current upgrades? Or at least till the end of UBB if that ever happens?

I guess I just have a problem with the feasibility of the gold plan. 1. If every licensed site upgraded to the Gold plan in one year that would be a bonanza year for UBB the first year. 2. Each successive year would mean reduced income for UBB. Even if only a few users migrate each year it would still mean reduced gross sales per year. 3. So where does UBB get operating capital after the first year to survive? 4. I guess the business plan is we will always increase our customer base. But that day will end someday. So when you stagnate increased net new customers UBB will fail? 5. To me the Silver plan makes more sense on a business perspective. The Gold plan seams to be a temporary marketing ploy just to generate short term increased sales.

I think there will always be a balance of people who choose the annual license vs. the gold license, so UBB will do just fine. I think there's something about human nature that when faced with a larger priced plan (for whatever it may be), many people will choose the cheaper one, even though it makes more sense in the long run to choose the lifetime plan. I've had options to buy into certain clubs for life, but always choose the short-term cheaper route. But with UBB, I went for it. Gold member here.

LOL - Well if you had a Gold American Express card about 20 years ago THAT was darn good credit, but now days my own kid has one and he doesn't make squat so you might need something more.

I knew it had to be a classic case of thread drift, but I just had to read this one to find out in what context "buying a lot of gas" was used.

Okay I am still on this kick. When in the members area selecting to upgrade to Gold I see a note:"Lifetime Access to Free Software Upgrades: For as long as your license is valid, you will be able to download free upgrades of the software."
What does "as long as your license is valid" mean. If I have a Gold then it will always be valid. Or is it referring to a revoked license due to breaking the software agreement?

You break the AUP to invalidate your license then it's no longer valid ...

AUP = Authorized Use Policy; TOS = Terms of Service, etc... Basically, if you follow the License Agreement you don't have a worry in the world... Link to License Terms

Okay Giz but here there is no such thing as AUP. There is however a "Terms of Use " Policy. That is what confused me with your post. I already know the Terms of Use here

You guys are making too much of this.
What Gizzy is refering to as an AUP is commonly known around here as the license. You can review it from the Member area. ( top left corner )
Ruben, where it says "Upgrades: For as long as your license is valid, you will be able to download free upgrades of the software." Has it occurred to you that the same wording has been reused and is there whether you're buying gold, silver, whatever?
As long as it is valid you can download, and if you buy a gold it's valid for life.
Let's not overthink this, ok?

Ruben, where it says "Upgrades: For as long as your license is valid, you will be able to download free upgrades of the software." Has it occurred to you that the same wording has been reused and is there whether you're buying gold, silver, whatever? David your statement is not totally correct about the same wording has been reused, The only place it appears is to upgrade to Gold. It is not in upgrade to Silver, It is not in renew annual membership, Nor is it in purchase a new license. Item 12. Termination. in the terms of service pretty much covers invalidating a license. So I questioned why this statement is only on the Gold renewal So that is why I questioned the comment.
