Hi, A user has created an image gallery and wants to share about 160 pictures. He went through the hassle of uploading them one by one, and it took hem 2 hours to upload. This feature request is about a mass-upload feature. Do it client side, using ajax, or a java applet, or do it server side, by ftp-ing a bunch of files to the server (like coppermine does it). Also a little request about viewing the next image (not the next gallery), because the gallery now is a little hard to view (scrolling down for the next picture, and scrolling back to see it.) You can see the gallery here: http://www.ricochetbond.nl/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showgallery/Number/383

Im against the ftp option for USERS... why would you give users ftp access to your server? <snicker>
I think i saw it in Gallery, where you could upload a zip file and it'd import the files to your gallery...

I agree that some better option would really be a nice feature. Not positive which method would be best but the current method is a bit cumbersome for those that do want to share multiple images at one time.

I'd totally hijaack the wordpress file uploader (flash version). it's open source and there is php and javascript (ajax) code that works.
shoehorning that nifty interface in would make image uploading a snap for single or multiple..
matter of fact, i intend to do that on a 'guinea pig' board at some point..

I wonder what license type the creators of the file uploader use...

I wonder what license type the creators of the file uploader use... well, it's bundled with WP, so i'm guessing that it's gotta have no strings attached.. kinda like what Rick requires for ubbthreads ? i'll poke around in the wp-content dir and see if there is a readme on that..

Well, we charge for our script, most open source licenses don't like that; only the apache2 license is loose enough to allow us to bundle their stuf with our paid script..

MIT licensewhatever that means... one thing though is that it doesn't prevent a ubb-modder from using the code

matter of fact, i intend to do that on a 'guinea pig' board at some point.. That's the SWF flash uploader, I think it should be fixed for flash 10 soon. Photopost uses it too - very nice. http://swfupload.org/

The actual uploader is still in beta, I'd wait until it's outta beta before using it on a production site.

I'm praying we can get some sort of UI like they have in Gallery (the windows upload widget is insane!) but I'm not grasping at any straws...
