Just wondering why there's an entire site dedicated to skinning? Can't it be integrated here? In, or as an extenson to, the Styles forum?

Just wondering why there's an entire site dedicated to skinning? Can't it be integrated here? In, or as an extenson to, the Styles forum? The main reason is because we'd like to keep these forums dedicated to support for the core product and problems with it. Skins can be contributed by anyone, and when 8.0 is out a skin will end up containing much more (templates, etc.). With that comes support issues obviously, and don't really want to blur the lines. Basically the same reason UBBdev is it own site The second reason is while this will be somewhat the official skin site, it's my own personal project that I've worked on with a couple people, including my wife. It's running on my own server, etc.

Why is the new site registered in Rick's name? Is infopop(Groupee, Inc) not supporting the new site?

Doesn't matter who it belongs to (IMHO) it's necessary and long overdue. Good luck with it

Doesn't matter who it belongs to (IMHO) it's necessary and long overdue. I agree. And the reason I say that is when I grew up I only had the five crayon box. So I am quite handicapped when it comes to making new styles and selecting matching colors. All I know is black, red, blue, green and brown. When you go outside of that I am lost!

The skins are horrible, but I like to idea of a skins/themes website. I just hope it's going to be slightly more active then www.ubbdev.com for example Mike

I just hope it's going to be slightly more active then www.ubbdev.com for example Mike Right now it is just a sample of two existing styles. Hopefully it will encourage others to start posting more. What about you? Do you have something to contribute?

I can see the point for continuing to use the forum to upload styles and wrappers but I personally find that combing through the posts a little laborious. On top of that, a few of the screen shots and a few of the files are no longer accessible for whatever reason. I really like the idea of a dedicated themes site because you will have a simple easy display that is easy to browse based on the sample we have been given to check out. I really don't see what the objection to creating partner sites like the themes site and UBB Dev and I think Rick is right on about this with the intention to keep the focus of THIS FORUM on support for the UBB software. I do have a suggestion based on my use and observation of UBB that might be a good compromise. The UBB links in the upper left menu are all parts of UBB but they are not well tied together and I think that the product really deserves to have a main web site that has a new look and identity that contains all of those site/pages. Years ago as a new customer I found these separate pages with different web addresses and appearance a little confusing. All of the parts, the members area, features, documentation, pricing and ordering, support, THEMES, UBB Dev and of course the UBB Threads forum should all be included and accessible from one main menu on a main UBB home page. Rick, you have all of the content to put everything together one simple, great looking and polished web site! I think you should consider it and since you have the content (the haard part) putting it all together is the easy part. Just an idea...

Definitely will be putting out a new website, it's really due for a makeover. Have been wanting to do this for awhile now. Will probably give it an update after we get 8.0 out since it's going to need to be updated so much anyways

An additional reason for UBBSkins being it's own domain. Downloading, ratings, eventually the upload process are all actually modifications to the UBB itself. We don't want to be hacking at the official forums, because sometimes I break stuff when doing so
