This is kind of hard to duplicate but here it goes any way. But I see it happen here on this site.
When I visit this site in Flat mode. Something odd happens with the new post/topic indicators using IE7 but not Firefox.
Using IE7, I make a new topic or reply. Then move on to a new topic or forum and I see that the new topic gif is displayed in the forum I just left. But it is from my own post not another reply.
Again only with IE7 just yesterday when I visited here there were new topic indicators in the bug forum and admin zone. when I read the topics in the bug forum. I then went back to the forum summary and it did not show a new topic indicated in the admin zone. Even though I had not even opened that forum yet.
I can't seem to duplicate this on my site as I have less traffic and I keep current on all new posts.
So IE7 bug or UBB bug. Not really sure.

Don't know if I can really nail it down to a specific pattern. Switching back and forth on browsers. I know there has been similar issues reported with threaded mode and Rick has been working on it.

Are you noticing that on the bugs forum Ruben? This can be a bit misleading on forums with subforums. For example, for me there were 2 unread posts in the Non-bugs subforum. I made a post in the bugs forum and went back to the main forum sublisting. The last post was listed by me, and had the new post indicator on. The new post indicator was on because of the 2 new posts in the subforum, even though they were older than my new post.
Hopefully that makes sense. Last post link is for the actual last post in any of the forums/subforums. New post indicator will be on if there are any unread posts in any of the subforums within.

Like I said it was hard to nail down switching between browsers but I will stick with IE7 for a while and see when I spot it again. So I can be more specific. But I do know one instance was in the forum summary page it showed new posts in the admin zone and bug forum. After reading the bug forum I went back to the forum summary and the admin zone showed no new posts but when I opened the admin zone forum the new posts showed.

Okay can't seem to duplicate this now. But I think the issue is a browser cache item. Because I noticed when I am using IE7 lately I have been using the browserback button almost exclusivly. Also I did reinstall IE7 for just in case issues. And now the shout box has been working also which was not the case before.
So I would say for now move this to NON-BUG( Operator Error)

Well I gave up since FF is my default browser. But I really think it is a IE issue. Way to much work to narrow down. But I do know if you refresh several times some forums will stop showing new posts are there from the summary page. Then open Firefox and the newpost.gif appears where in IE it is not.
