I have updated from version 6.5.5 to version 7.5.3. In version 6, moderators are viewed only as a moderator there, where they are a moderator, now they are all shown as moderator. Can we change this, and if so how?
2 forums; Testforum1 and Testforum2 Testmod is moderator in Testforum1 Testmod write a posting in Testforum1, the Username in the posting on the left side is:
Testmod
And He write a posting in Testforum2, he ist not moderator in Testforum2, an the Username is only this:
Testmod
No Moderatoricon in Testforum2, only in Testforum1: Testforum1 Moderators: Testmoderator Testforum2 Moderators: No Moderators
I hope you understand this. Sorry, my englisch is very bad.

Okay well answer his question because I don't know if there is a way around his issue since that is the way it works now. Meaning the icon displays even if you are not a moderator in the forum they post in. I am lost for a suggestion.

Yes that is the way I take it. I guess in v6 that was the case. When he upgraded to 7.x the little M appears in all posts. Even where the member is not a moderator.
So I don't have a answer since that is the way it works now. And I don't think it is a easy mod due to the multiple group/icons allowed now.

Ruben, I am at 7.2.2, and my moderators only have the moderator flag in forums where they have moderator status. They do not appear as moderators in the other forums.
Gizmo, did your kindergarten teacher ever say anything about sharing?

Yea I think the issue is somewhere above 7.2.2 Without looking in old posts. Rick added a feature that you could add a icon to each group.Besides the default moderator and admin. But the user if in multiple groups had to go into their profile and select what icon to display. Since there was no way to determine which icon to display. The problem appears to be that now the M becomes a group icon. So if selected in the user profile it will appear in any post in any forum regardless if they are a moderator or not of that forum. It shows if they are in a moderator group even if they are not the moderator. So the only way to turn it off is to completely delete the icon or deselect it in the user profile.
I never gave it much thought. But I guess it can be deceiving to someone visiting a topic and see the icon and think they are the moderator of that topic when in fact they are not.

It is now possible to add an image for each group. Users belonging to that group will be able to display that image next to their name. If a user belongs to multiple groups, the user can select a single or multiple images to be displayed.
