Hey Gizmo... not sure if this is a wish list item...
But can there be a way that you can post video clips to play in the forums...
It can be linked elsewhere, like a hyperlink, and just play on the forums page...
Not sure... would just be cool...
I have been looking over version 8 update information this morning !
CANT WAIT... When is its anticipated release?

How does this differ from the current media tags?

Yeh yur request IS the Video Tags option which was added in v7.3; if you don't have v7.3 there is a mod over at UBBDev that adds it in. UBBDev also has some additional UBBTags for some media sites.

I am not sure what campingPA is talking about. The site is using 7.5.3 already.

Yes but still it should have the video tags already. Back at you.

http://www.oembed.com/ <-- this is the way to go as far as i'm concerned going forward.. i already use it on my Wordpress portal... it 'just works', if you get the idea. bbcode.inc.php should do what it currently does for 'Magic URLs' for sites that are oEmbed servers (there are many more than shown there). then there is no custom BBcode or regexes involved at all. additionally, if the server changes the embed, it's dynamically changed for any consumer (ubb.threads) software.. yes, custom bbcode tags are cool when i wrote em, but this would enhance it and prevent regex headaches i've seen all too often.. so combine the two and you can 'have it all' and of course the admin should have the option to enable only what he/she wants too

So long as they'd be combined count me in; a lot of people use it for far more than just video tags ...

LOL...ok, how about this then: a more visible "new private message" alert? On the VB boards I visit, if you have a new private message the "welcome, blah blah blah" box is shaded bright red...on the UBB boards, *I* know to look for the flashing envelope, but some new users don't, and it's hard to see for some of the "older" users (or those of us that check in with our phones). On my 6.5.5 forum I had installed a PM "pop up" feature that I'd carried over from Classic, I believe...and an audible car horn!

I'd love to see a big box added on all forum pages that blatantly says "You have X new private messages"

How about a master "list" of all multiple identity notifications? As of now, when I get a notification, I dump the date/time/user info into a thread in the Admin forum for reference down the road...but it would be handy if the software automatically dumped this info into a scrollable/searchable list somewhere in the CP.

Did anyone mention the users being able to delete their own thread?
Have it to where a user who posts a thread can delete it after its served it purpose. That way they wont have to notify a moderator to delete it for them.

There is a option to allow editing a post for x amount of time, But then what do you do about all the replies.

the replies would be deleted too. Just like when a mod deletes a whole entire topic. The author/starter of a topic can delete their topic.
Say for instance you are posting something to sell, you post the topic, perhaps there are a few posts responding to your item for sale. Once it sells, the author/starter deleted the whole post.
Just an idea to help keep the mods from having to do it, and it keeps others from viewing a post of something for sale thats already been sold.

I think this list needs another addition of feature requests for a later 7 version or 8.

I hereby claim number 20 and 94 as my first mods to do next week for UBB. Those shouldn't take me long which is why I chose them. I will go bigger in another month or so, I have to check a few things out with UBB first.

I would like to see a more efficient system for members to 'opt out' of unwanted emails from the system.

James My Stuff -> My Profile (though I'm not sure why it's not in preferences) -> "From time to time we send out emails regarding this community." I believe if this option is deselected that the admin panel will opt to not send messages to these users

Currently when an Admin/Mod moves a thread there is a check box to send the thread starter a PM. If the member replies to that PM the Admin/Mod doesn't receive the reply PM.
Could this be changed that replies would go to the Admin/mod who initiated the move?

I sure hope that the new DYNAMIC CSS applies to the ACTIVE TOPICS listing.... I have always wanted a way to highlight an Active Topic that was in their "members" forum.
(A members forum is one which is managed by Group membership. I want THOSE postings to be highlighted in the Active Topics listing.)

must be either IE + some other combo that causes it or specific versions of IE, because i never have problems with:
IE9 and any OS
even on this site....
i've also verified ie8 ( since xp only allows that ) on the new 7.6 and it works fine..
i __did__ do one thing with cookies for 7.6 that makes it more standard, so dunno if that squashes the 'bug' tho

I use IE9 + Win7 64 and whenever I log in it says I've logged in fine, but clicking to any other page on the forum shows that I'm actually either not logged in or get logged out. Been going on for years, literally. Rick at one time mentioned a possible fix, but it really didn't do the job. It's here and any other .threads forum I visit/run. I have to switch to chrome or some other PITA. Oh, happened just a few minutes ago, which is why I complained Clearing cookies/ logging in and out don't do anything.

Have you tried the below steps? I give these to IE users on my site who run into the problem and they say it has worked for them. Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted sites / Sites Deselect the "Require server verification" check box Add the website doman to the zone: http://www.yourdomain.com/
