You have to create a custom island for the ad, and then go to forum settings, and edit forum. Under "Custom Inserts," you'll see how to add the custom island, and make it work.

Okay here we go again. With no documentation. first item it to create a custom island. https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/191106/Custom_Portal_Island_101_Quest.htmlThen goto: Control Panel ยป Forum Settings select the details link for the forum desired. Select the custom inserts tab. Scroll down to: Custom Island Insert This will show up between the 1st and 2nd post of a topic. Usually the most effective place to put ads. Select the island you desire.

Actually, Steve pretty much explained it all. Go to your Admin CP (control panel). Under Portal || Custom Islands click on Add Additional Custom IslandClick on ' EDIT' and enter your text/code where it says... Body of the custom box hereNow click on Forums/ Forum Settings then [Details]Now click on the Custom Inserts tab. Finally select you new island from the Custom Island Insert...and there ya go

I know Steve explained it all, But I was trying to be a little more gracious with some detail. Since he is struggling as a new user with little documentation on what and where to make the change. And I already know he will struggle with a custom island format , as I did when it became a option to use. Since there is nothing in the manual for custom islands.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to encourage Rick to make a how do I forum that's read only to move these types of things into. Kind of like a self documentation project or a wiki type of thing.

Rumor has it that when v8 is released there will be a wiki. That would benefit the veterans as well as noobs when v8 is released. But I tend to agree it is time to start re- documenting ubb again. It is one item missing since v7.X, and is well needed.

You happened to make that post whilst I was (typing) answering the OP.

Hmmm - same thing happened when I made the edit above - you posted at the same time.
Maybe that would be a nice feature in v8....?
I mean - 'ALERT' someone has posted since you made your last post - please read their comment and reconsider your post.
Just a thought. (I think I've seen this somewhere else.)

I don't know about the part of acting stupidly. But it pertains to a "whatever" though. At least in the USA.
And I love the scene when it is said.

I think the best thing is to just have the documentation built into the software. Simple instructions next to each area would be a huge help and it would be great to have a premade forum with maybe 5 categories, forums and subforums with general permissions already set-up so users have a place to start.
