Hey guys,

Just installed UBB 7.5.6p2, finally after one MySQL problem, I am running into another.

I was going through the install process and when I was trying to finalize the last step I got this error message:

(User and Host name have been changed for my protection.)

We encountered a problem. The reason reported was

SQL Error: Access denied for user 'User'@'Host' (using password: NO)
SQL Error #: 1045
Query: Unable to connect to the database!

So I tried creating another user in MySQL, with the exact same permissions etc. and it worked.

After about an hour and a half, not messing with anything other than the UBB control panel doing admin work. I get this message:

I am confused. I did nothing to the directory or to MySQL DB relating to this install. The only thing I did was add a new DB and directory, independent from the first install so I could run another forum on the same domain.

Anyone face this problem? Did I miss something?

Sounds like your server may be overloaded and the MySQL database can't be connected to... Is this a shared host or a dedicated machine?

I am using webhost4life.com.

Is there a preferred host you guys use. I was suggested to try them out.

Well, we used to recommend Mindraven.com because the (now former) UBB lead developer ran it, but it was sold off to another company and users have had mixed reviews; the current UBB owner operates a hosting operation here however.
