Hi everyone,

I have a user who for the past three weeks has intermittently had difficulties posting. It was only a few times per day, now it is constant.

He can't post to PMs or to the board. His avatar shows up but not his signature and nothing in the body of the message. He has to send them to me, and I post them. (Only very important posts). I "became him" and I couldn't post.

We experimented with making another user thinking the user was corrupt but that did not work either. There have been some very random times when other users have a few posts that don't work.

I am wondering if going from 7.5.7 to a higher version would solve the problem, but it seems that they have their issues as well. I suppose it could be his IP address.

What version php do you have?
A lot of people have recently had similar issues with php5.X.
Due to hosts upgrading the server.
That is one of the items addressed with UBB7.5.8

I just discovered something for the first time, which may have something to do with it.

Someone was having difficulty posting something rather large. So, they emailed it to me. I attempted to copy and paste it, but it didn't work. I ended up typing the entire six paragraphs into the post, and it worked. (I tested after the first paragraph to make sure it worked).

So, is it not possible to copy and paste? You would think that after ten years, I would have tried to copy and paste once in the past.

So, has anyone seen the inability to paste a cut and paste? And, in general, not be able to post at all.

It's a pain, because users email me with posts they want posted. I have only done a few, mainly from corporate posts.

This issue should be fixed in 7.5.8 as noted in this thread which is a duplicate of this reported bug.

True. Thanks. I read the whole thread. It did say in one place that 7.5.7 fixed it, but that turned out to be wrong. Then downgrading from php.

If 7.5.8 will work, then I just need to upgrade to 7.5.8. Thought I read something about it having a bug or two, but I guess that goes with the territory.

It's strange, because I get about one a day (I know not many) that go on the Shout Box shouting to me that they can't post or PM. It's hard to believe that they are all copying and pasting, and you would think that one would figure that out as well. Write a post. Goes through. Copy and email or whatever to a past, goes through. I also could see people copying and pasting to a post, but PMs tend to be quick, small messages.

php version 5.4.22 is the reported issues with ubb 7.5.7 that ubb 7.5.8 resolved.

Yes there were a couple of other non related issues with ubb7.5.8 when first released. They were corrected but without notation that the download was changed.
So if you download ubb7.5.8 today the fix is in place for the reported bugs.

Thanks Ruben. That is something I can't do or wouldn't attempt to do. I will check with my host admin and see what he says and come back and see if I can get any help here.

I see it as three choices.
Downgrade php so the posts work again.
Or
Upgrade ubb to 7.5.8
Or
Do nothing and live with the issue.

And downgrading is never a fun thing.

I would always upgrade. But, then again, how many times do you cut and paste? Maybe more than I think. I find it interesting that of all the 25 people who have complained to me, none of them have been forthright with the information that they pasted from Word. Seems to work form Notepad. Haven't tested Email.

It is reproducible though.

It really is not just cut and paste but long posts also.
