I have our board setup so that new members are moderated until they've posted four times. During moderation, they cannot use PM or create a signature because both have been used to spam the board. Their posts only appear to administrators and moderators until they are approved.
It all works well, except for one thing. Occasionally a new member, not understanding how moderation works, will post and repost until their post finally appears. (Yes, the registration screen explains all this, but people seldom bother to read it.)
I"d like to never have their posts appear until they have had four posts approved, but I can't figure out a way to do that.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

If I understand correctly that is a long standing issue with the group auto promote. where a user can post several topics and once beyond the setting they get promoted even if the prior posts are not approved. All I can suggest is you increase the number of posts beyond 4 so it does not happen so quickly.

Yuck - that just increases my workload.
Can we get a feature request? It would be nice to have the ability to define auto promote as based upon approved posts.

Set the diminished group permission to have a flood check time ("Minimum time between posts") of like 10 minutes and update the language file (addpost.php "FLOODCONTROL") to say something along the lines of "Moderated users can only post once every X minutes, please do not make multiple posts of the same subject in a moderated forum".

Well a flood check which I would also suggest. I don't know why I did not suggest it Is just another band-aide of a different flavor. so if you leave it at 4 posts and set a flood check at 10 minutes. then I just post one post each ten minutes then at minute 40 I get in un-approved still. Now it will make it more difficult to the user to post and may cause inquiries why they can't post. But it does not completely resolve the issue.
That is why I feel it needs to be addressed.

Ruben, you're right, of course, but it's at least a temporary fix for my problem. The popup should remind them rather than me getting email asking why their posts aren't showing up. It will also stop a spammer from automating something to post quickly.
BTW, I want to thank you for having been extremely helpful multiple times over the years. Every time I have a question or comment, you're one of the first to respond, your responses are on point and you're never critical. I could hardly ask for more.
