I thought that this would be easy.
I have a "word" or two of what was in a deleted post. But I can't find the post. I also think I know which Moderator did it (1234)
Suggestions?
Using MySQL Query Browser:
SELECT * FROM ubbt_ADMIN_LOG where LOG_ACTION = 'DELETE_POST' and SELECT * FROM ubbt_POSTS where USER_ID = 1234 and POST_BODY like "%word%" and SELECT * FROM ubbt_ADMIN_LOG where LOG_ACTION = 'DELETE_POST'and USER_ID = 1234
Using the last SELECT statement above, I can find the TITLE of the POST -- How do I find the actual Post?

I thought when they were gone they were gone ? O the logs. . . . . .
If its not a recent post and you want to see its content, dive into a back up you may have ? Then you can see a time and date as reference to search your live logs.
I back up every night, so it covers me as long as its out side 24hrs so to speak.

When a POST is deleted, it is gone forever.
When a PRIVATE TOPIC is deleted it remains until all users delete it.
There is no recovery of a deleted post as the data is pruned from the database once the delete command is initiated.

Shucks.. Yes, it was deleted about 2 days ago.
I need to figure out how to do incremental backups... or else just bite the bullet and backup the whole thing every night. But I hate to take that performance hit, since I have always have folks online during the 24 hours.
Thanks for the bad news. :-(

We need something like a "dead-letter-box" to retain deleted postings for 30 days.
Maybe if I submit this as a future upgrade to UBB.... ha ha.. What the heck was I thinking??!!!

I generally tell my staff to move threads/posts to a hidden staff only forum called "Trash Bin" then admin's are responsible for the final deletion (unless the post was made as obvious spam).
In UBB.Classic we had a mod for "Trash Bin Forums" whereby the delete would simply move the thread to that forum by itself. In Threads I'd say, if it ever made it as a feature, that posts/threads have a new cell in the database table for "deleted" and then mods can mark things for deletion and it'd simply put a 1 in that cell and then a CP entry (like post moderation) would be triggered for an admin to make the final call; but that's a pipe dream at this point of that ever being an official feature.

Thanks... Yes, I have the hidden thread where I MOVE discussions instead of deleting them. Have had that for years - probably because of a suggestion from you during the way-back years! Unfortunately an over-zealous Moderator deleted three postings from an 80-year old man who made some over-the-line comments. Now everyone is playing the pity card -- and the missing posts would have done a lot to simmer them down. A similar situation to "other places" where people make up their minds withOUT reviewing the facts.

Or Create a New user (its your fake account). Use a gmail account or outlook.com a free one that you can fill with e-mails.
Register with your free e-mail account. Then watch All your forums and request an e-mail any time a new post / reply is made.
There you have a archive for just in case.
Well first draft anyway.

That would work... but.....
I already use a "spare" GMail account to receive snapshots of the security camera that I have at my house. It gets 1 a minute sent to it, unless there is movement, the it gets an email with photo attached -- every 5 seconds!!!! Gotta love Gmail!!!!!
(Once a month I go in and delete all of them.)
