I would like to allow members of the group "Users" to have the ability to edit their own posts within a specified time frame.

I see the setting. I enter values and the modification is not changed.

For example, under the Group "Users" there is a setting to enter a value in minutes to allow post editing.

I enter the value and save the permissions. The Value is not updated in the group permissions tab.

What am I missing???

There are several ways to get there.
If you goto:
Control Panel » Group Management » Forum Permissions for Users group
Edit post time limit
Enter the time in minutes for each desired forum.

If you go another route then you need to use the switch button or you are editing the default group template not the actual group.

If indeed the settings are not saved then visit:
Control Panel » Permission Checks
And make sure all the lines show okay.

Those are the steps I have followed.

When I click on the "Submit" button, my changes are not saved....

The permissions check panel does show an Okay for each line.

what version are you using?
You may need someone to peek under the hood to see if there is a blaring obvious issue.

Could I get you to run the UBB.threads v7.6.0+ System Requirement Test - 20150914 on your server, and tell me if it reports any errors?

have a quick read through this article -
https://www.ubbwiki.com/article/view/16/issues-with-the-php-module-suhosin.html

"By default suhousin will limit the amount of variables that php can read as a protection from buffer overflows"

Web Server Apache
PHP Version 5.4.43
MySQL Version 5.0.95
UBB Version 7.5.9

No problem with running the script. Provided you give me instructions....

I read through the documentation and understand the purpose of the test. But, the mechanics is outside experience.

Pretty much unzip the file to your computer, then FTP the file to your public_html (or www) folder and run it in your web browser, it should "just work".

Then either link us to the page, or copy/paste it into a reply; it'll basically report any potential server configuration issues.

Well what Gizmo has related to is possibly that your host has implemented suhousin which limits how many variables are submitted when clicking on submit when making changes.
Which may possibly cause a issue.

Try it now; I think there was something wrong with the ssl output of the captcha variable, I just got it working again.

Thanks. I do understand the basics of the php variable. I'm not well versed in mysql and php. I did spend many years with hand coding html with vi editor. Within the past couple of years I have been getting back into the admin side of things and it si a steep learning curve.

Gizmo: I do have the zip file downloaded.

I'm not sure where to place it and how to activate it.

I do have root access to my server and can place it where necessary...

Anywhere in the webspace for your domain, then open it in your web browser; root access isn't needed at all as this has been written to be executed by users who wouldn't generally have any type of advanced access to their servers.

http://www.4x4wire.com/ubbt_test.php basically.

BTW, I have 44 forums.

From reading the test results, my max_input_vars setting is 1000

And, you have a recommend value of (# of posts * 26) + 4.

So, that puts me needing to have my ISP increase the max_input_vars variable in php....

Then, I see where there is a recommended setting of 2048...

2048 is a general recommendation, whereas there is a fine grained calculation if one needed a value above the recommendation.

Thanks.. After adding the max_input_vars=2048, I can save the forum permission settings and members of the group can now edit posts.
