I have a problem with the forum that I have been maintaining for 1 week. Since an hour I get the following message when I want to log in to the admin section: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Admin in /home/solexforum/public_html/libs/admin.inc.php on line 54
Is there anyone who can help me fix this problem?

Where is the forum located? What version are you running? Do you have any modifications to the base code? Have there been any system upgrades lately (namely to PHP)?

Had it been previously working without issue? Have any changes been made to the UBB.threads files (modifications)? What's the URL to the forum so we can see if there are problems with the front end?

I have never seen this problem before. Maybe it is your cookies.
Goto your name on the top right. Select it. Then select cookies. Select the Verwijder cookies button.
Login again and try

Code declarations don't move in PHP scripts, if it worked previously and isn't now that'd mean that somehow the files have been modified; could you verify that all of the files in your /admin and /libs files are the same as the .zip file downloaded from here (when uploading files you will want to take care to never upload anything from the /cache_builders/custom or /includes folders, or the /styles/wrapper.php file). Line #54 in /libs/admin.inc.php is the code declaration for the class "admin" which powers the control panel. You may have to seek support from the support desk in order to diagnose server issues.

If I removed the cookies, the problem remains the same.

The problem is I don't have an account so I can't download those files. I have bought this forum together with a number of people and we have not received any further login details

UBB.threads is a licensed product, it is not freeware. These are User to User forums, you'll need to contact the support desk to either purchase a license or obtain your login details. They can also help you with server related issues.

When you purchased the site the original owner would be the person that has access to the new files. He can not transfer the access to you.
Do you have a backup before today of the files? I would try them but make a new backup first.
You want to make sure the backup is the current version.

The original owner will need to provide you with all license details pertaining to the site; there's nothing you can do in regards to upgrades or support without access to the license... This should have been part of any site sale. I believe the support desk (run by the script vendor) will be able to change the owner of the license from his account to yours; but again this forum is for user to user support.

For now maybe you can contact the old owner and get the current install zip file for the site. But sooner or later you will need to resolve this somehow with the vendor. Currently a new license cost $139 US dollars. Which gives you access to any new updates for a year.

Have you tried contacting your host for a site backup They make their own backups. Some will restore a folder or two. You just need to make sure they do not restore a backup prior to when the old owner upgraded to UBB 7.7.5. Just the files not the database is what you want. Then only items such as language changes, html includes, some various setting changes will be lost. But the posts will be current as long as they do not reload the database from a backup.
So be careful when you ask the host for this.

the problem is solved. I couldn't reach the control panel. but when i chose 'edit user' i got into the control panel. There I restored the last settings I had made. now the control panel can be reached again. There is some kind of bug in the forum language selection?

We do not supply any language files other than English; it's possible that you have corrupt entries in your language file that could have caused some problems... However this should not cause an issue with re-declaring a class...

That is why I asked him what he actually did Giz. I can't really see what could have happened other than some of the special language keys have other variables embedded and may have been displayed incorrectly.. I still stand by bad cookie. Unless he edited something outside of the cp. It appears that mostly what was restored was the generic language keys.

Then one of your languages is probably still corrupted. Even though you do not display it as a option to select now
