I know most global announcements do not need a reply but some do. The current workaround is to create a secondary topic to reply to. As we all know global announcements can be created anywhere.
Is there anything in the works to allow replies to global announcements? We have the lock topic feature so it could be locked if we desire to not allow replies. I know there probably is more to it than this as far as code goes.
I have not thought it all through but maybe you have.

Its designed behavior, as the permissions would be from whatever forum the source post was created in; its entirely possible modify the code to remove the check but it's not supported, see " Can't Reply to Global Announcements"

Be aware that if you modify the software to allow replies to Global Announcements and you have private or NSFW forums, they may get replies which would not be appropriate to appear in other forums at all.
If you desire replies, create a link within your Global Announcement to a post where users can reply to, to limit their comments to a specific conversation range.
