Hi, ive been away, setting up a new server that will
accomidate v7 (That's another storey)

My Question.
Can i copy X files from my old v7 B2
that will copy over the settings that i already had
in my control panel.

Or
What's the quickest way to get those settings over
from the control panel ?

I cant copy and paste as the old
site is offline, and cant see / use a
running version anymore (Domain moved).
I do have a backup of those files locally

This would be usefull to know because when the final release
comes out i will need to do another fresh install
and import from classic to Threads v7

I want to change its final url to more friendly.

Hopefully you can help as i still have
access to my old files for B2.

Thanks for any help

Mark.

The easiest would be to copy over everything to the new server. After that you'll just need to hand edit the includes/config.inc.php file to modify the URLs and PATHs and DB info contained at the top.

Cheers.

Thanks will give that a go smile
Then upgrade as it goes along.

New twist.
What would happen if i dropped the sql tables
or created a new one.
Ran the importer again?

Would i loose control panel settings styles etc?
Or would it be fine.

I'm thinking that if i have the new forums settled,
i could delete the earlier imported data,
run the import and then i would be ready to go.

Would be handy to know smile

yes, you have to make all settings again including importing styles, setup the portal etc. pp
An export option for the settings would be fine

Cheers guys,

I did try it,
seemed to work except for !

Becasue the origninal import was done on a diffrent path,
the emotions were looking at the old path, in the posts frown

So to go live with the most uptodate posts,
is to run the importer and manually change the settings
in the contorl panel.

Drink lots of coffee.

I'm going to import with RC1 later tonight,
and see how that goes smile

----
The only solution i can see for my self is,
Make a testing / my settings forum after an import.
Copy all the files out.
Make a new database,
Run the importer and then copy back the files?
When i want to go live.

Should work in theory he says !
