Hi again!

We have a couple of problems with our boards. When a new member registers they get a welcome PM sent to them but this isn't showing up. It shows they have 1 PM but when you go to the list of PM's its empty. The PM is there in the w3t_messages table and the only thing I can spot that may be wrong is the PM seems to be being sent from user no. 2 in the database but if I run (select * from w3t_users where U_number = 2;) I get no results. I also can't find any settings for the sending of this PM so I wondered if it was a hack a previous admin had written? <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Secondly we have a forum that just will not show up whatever we do! We can move it from category to category but it doesn't show up in any of them. All the permissions are correct i.e. admins/mods/users can all read and wright but its still not there?!? <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

User#2 is the main admin for the board - it should never be deleted. Not sure how yours is missing. Did you import from Classic? You can register a generic "admin" type user - make it an administrator and change it's user number to 2. Then all the missing PMs will appear.
Likewise with the missing forum, is the user number who holds the last post in that forum missing in the user's table? You didn't say what version, but this was a bug back in ~6.3 I believe. You have to make a new post to the forum to get it to appear (use the URL newpost.php?Board=keyword)

Ours wasn't an upgrade so I've no idea how we lost user no.2

I've recreated an admin user and re-numbered it to 2 and all the PM's are now showing up. One small thing the admin user I've created doesn't show up when you search for all admins! Is this done on purpose so you don't delete it or is it just because I been manually altering user numbers with sql commands?

I can't for the life of me get the other board to show up though. The last user to post on the forum is still in the database (user no. 399) and when I try to addpost.php it says I only have read access to the board! Yet when I edit the board through the admin console it have read+write and when I check this with an sql query it also says I have read+write!

Were running ubbt 6.2.3 by the way (sorry missed it off first post)

You're correct on that, user #2 is never shown, to prevent it from being accidently deleted.

I'll ask Rick or Josh to address the hidden/missing board. I remember there being a fix for it, but the fix itself I don't recall.

Not sure on the board issue. Definitely some permission type things going on if you can't even post to it. Would like to bring it up in my browser just to check a couple things. Perhaps you can bring it up in your browser and just post the URL to that particular problem forum here.

You do have an admin account on our forum where you've helped us in the past. If you need the login details again I can reset your password and e-mail it to you.

I do have to say our official support from UBBt ran out a couple of months ago, I'm in the process of getting it renewed with the company directors but currently we have non. I'm not sure of the exact url to the problem board itself (how would I find that) but the keyword to the board that I used in the addpost.php bit is 'Howtousethisforum'.

I tried to request a password for it but got an smtp error about not being authenticated, so looks likes it's having a bit of a mail problem.

I can't even get into the forum so definitely looks like a permission problem. If you can get the mail issue fixed then I can login and see what I can see.

I've e-mailed you a password for your user account on our forum, as you say were having mail probs at the mo buts its down to our hosting company.
