I am running 6.4 .2 and would like to set it up so that "HTML" is the default for new users for the Admin Email Option (vice "Plain Text"). I can't seem to find a way to set this as the default - I looked in the config section and didn't see it there? Is it possible? If so, how? Thanks in advance.

newpost and newreply, you'll see code like this:

Code
		$markupselect .= "<option value=\"markup\" selected=\"selected\">{$ubbt_lang['USE_MARKUP']}</option>";
	}
	if ( ($HTML == "On") || ($user['U_Status'] == "Administrator") || ($user['U_Status'] == "Moderator") ){
		$markupselect .= "<option value=\"html\">{$ubbt_lang['USE_HTML']}</option>";

Change the selected bit, like this:

Code
		$markupselect .= "<option value=\"markup\" >{$ubbt_lang['USE_MARKUP']}</option>";
	}
	if ( ($HTML == "On") || ($user['U_Status'] == "Administrator") || ($user['U_Status'] == "Moderator") ){
		$markupselect .= "<option value=\"html\" selected=\"selected\" >{$ubbt_lang['USE_HTML']}</option>";

Josh,
Your fix seems to have something to do with HTML in posts and replies? What I'm talking about is the default setting that is found at the botton of the "Emails Notification" section when you click on the EDIT link for "Subscribe / Unsubscribe from receiving forum posts by email, change message notifications, etc. "

There is an option there that says "Do you want your emails in HTML format or plain text." and it gives two choices: HTML and PLAIN TEXT. I want that to default to HTML and not Plain Text. The fix you suggested seems like its geared towards HTML settings when posting messages?

Ah - yeah, I didn't follow what you were asking.

You could alter the db table (back it up first <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

Also have warning, that alot of people don't accept HTML email - like myself, if it's in HTML it's usually spam and so it's auto filtered to the trash unless I know it's coming. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

ALTER TABLE w3t_Users CHANGE U_EmailFormat U_EmailFormat varchar(10) DEFAULT 'html'

That'll fix all new users created from that point on.

To update existing users

UPDATE w3t_Users
SET U_EmailFormat = 'html'

Will update them. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

That's a good point. Maybe I will just leave well enough alone.
