Should we be indexing any fields in the UBB database tables? I'm wondering if it would speed up performance.

There should already be indexes present - are you seeing poor performance?

Our boards have been real slow at times, so we're doing our best to speed them up. We recently moved to a new MySQL server, which has helped. I was going through our tables and indexing fields in our databases that are searched on, but had no idea how to handle the UBB databases.

We're moving to a new web server soon, which should also speed things up. If you guys have any suggestions for improved performance, please share.

This is a good problem - our forums have become very popular and we have a great group of regular users. I never imagined we'd have users with thousands of posts.

I assume that you've tweaked MySQL with the new server already? You don't seem to have too many posts or users - high numbers of either are the usual bottleneck.

You should really upgrade to 6.5.0, or 6.5.1 when it's released. It contains both performance improvements and a few other critical fixes...
