Anybody have any links with resources on how to build a modular portal for UBB.Classic? Thanks.

Hi Mark, I have been experimenting with this using PHP, and integrating with the UBB Member files. I have posted some of my work on this at UBBDev.com. JC over at UBBDesign.com has done some work with Threads and Postnuke. Also threadsdev.com has done work with threads.

It seems that this is something that hasn't fully blossomed yet in classic, but I'm still pounding away at working on my site and making it integrate with my UBB more and more.

As for threads/and postnuke, they can run seamlessly but NOT together. Unless you have a few months to wander around the code of nuke and rewrite it to work with threads memberbase etc.

Basically I ported my nuke install to use the same header and footer as threads, thus allowing me to edit it easily. As for the login on nuke, I turned it off and only have the login for threads. I mainly use it for the downloads and graphics sections of my site.

I do offer a "JCDex" for threads that is a type of portal page. Also Dave at www.threadsdev.com has one as well. Both are free and easy to install.

thanks guys, but as I do not run UBB.threads, I cannot make use of these. I'm looking more for a UBB.Classic portal.

Ron, what's the deal with your xGeek thing? Is that cgi/php generated or just a standard index.html file that has javascript filling in the blanks?

Cool. I think I'm just going to go ahead and build something like that myself. Unfortunately I can't make use of MySQL but UBB.Classic doesn't use it anyways so in that regards I'm glad I went with classic instead of threads. I could add MySQL functionality but it would up my bill like $5 a month. I'm thinking a CGI/PHP portal using content islands and also being a portal for other parts of my site.

Anybody have any great CGI, PHP, or ASP resources? I'd love to save some time by finding some already done scripts that I can just pop into place. Also any good sources for SSI info? Thanks Ron for your help. Your pretty active on this board ehh?

I try to stay on top of the developments with Classic <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Here's some info that will serve useful: UBB login routines that can be found here

It's just a matter of building an index.php around the UBB login routines, and calling pages as necessary <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Some useful info on PHP can be found at PHP.net

I'll dig up some more info and post it later.
