I have a member whose original member account was corrupted so he had to re-register as a new user (this all happened a long time ago). He was wondering if it's possible to change his member number back to his original one easily.

Apparently, now that I have upgraded to 6.7.1 and people have been checking out the community directory, this has become a bigger issue to him (to have a low registration number). <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hi Kathy:

You can change it, but this isn't something we'd normally advise being done, as there may be other unintended side effects.

You'll have to edit the Member's file. In your Members directory, find the file that corresponds with their new member number & change the member number in the filename to the original number.

When you've done that, go into your control panel and run the rebuild & reindex functions. You'll want to run all of the options on the Rebuild page, and then run the Search Reindex...

Note: Any posts made by the member since the new registration would show as made by an unregistered user.

In addition to what Kate said perhaps you should back up that member file before making any changes to it (just a a safe guard to switch back to).
