When doing a preview in my forums [rc1] the umlauts and every special character is displayed wrong. If I visit this forum here with the same browser, everything looks ok. The charset is set to iso-8859-1 in the generic language file. Changing that to anything else (tried iso-8859-15 or UTF-8) does not show any change. What else can I do?
Example: äüö Preview shows: äüö

I do believe I made a few changes in between rc1 and the final in this area. It's related to xml and ajax and how they handle the characters, so I had to change it a bit. This could be why it's working here and not on your site.

Thanks for the info, Rick. I already put that problem aside until I updated to v7.01 (skipping v7.0 ) to be sure its not already fixed in the current release.

V7.0 doesn't make any difference for me. äüö still shows as äüö in the preview on my forums. I also did not find any code changes regarding this issue. It does not matter which browser I use, its always the same output.

I am able to preview the characters "äüö" here without any issues, I've tried both the "Quick Reply" preview, and the "Full Reply" preview and they display without any issues...
What browser are you using out of curiosity?

Well, here the preview is fine. At my forums I can use Firefox1.5, Opera8.54 or IE6, they all show that preview mess. As far as I know there's only the charset setting in generic.php, and this is set to "iso-8859-1".

I believe rick may have fixed a few strings for 7.0.1 for the ajax preview

Maze,
Is it possible to get ftp or ssh access to the server this is running on? Would like to try to debug on your site to see if I can figure out what's going on.

Unfortunately not, as v7 is currently just running on my development server at home. But if you have an idea where to start, I can support you with any info you need.
