How Can you Stop Inactive Members e-mail notifications? I have a bounced e-mail account with 9,000 e-mails of undelivered e-mails to members who's e-mails are no longer valid. Up to now ive had to go into each of the accounts "Become this member" and deactivate. Watched Forums & Topics. A slow process.
Is there a quicker easier way to turn off all e-mail notification of inactive members or invalid e-mail addresses ?

Okay then. The hook up would be there e-mail, so from that remove all notifications. My invalid e-mail is bounce backs of undelivered mail. My inactive is well its personal choice but say 6 months If there is a way from the e-mail address to turn off all e-mail notifications. IMO

Well, the UBB doens't know who's email is invalid, so either way it wouldn't be automatic. You can lookup a user via email address so I fail to see what you want changed...
As for the tick for "accept admin emails" missing from the member area, I've reported this at the beta site and we're merely waiting for Rick's input...
As for a period of 6 months being yoru criteria fr inactive users, same as the email, it's not automatic, so simply plug info into the member search in the cp; I'm sure it has an area that lists "last logged in"

Yes Mark, you would have to script something up on your own to read your mail logs to see what bounced and why and then take action if needed. Not something this is or probably ever will be part of UBB due to how it works externally.

I found the e-mails in my server account e-mail. So there was 9,000 over a period of 12 months, now that cant be good. My board does about 100 - 300 posts a day. A forum with higher numbers could have a lot more.
I'm not saying that UBB Threads sources or resolves it automatically, I'm asking is there an easier way to switch off all the e-mail sent to that members e-mail.
I found the 9,000 e-mails, and have to dig in and find the members one by one, and then go in as admin, and become that memeber and then visit there prefrences, switching off pm notifications switiching off admin e-mails
Editing Watched Forums Editing Watched Topics Editing Watched Members.
Which is time consuming, why cant we have a "E-mail OFF" Option. Which would be a nice tick option.
So its taking me 5 mins to turn off a users e-mail. I have god knows how many to check now. See where i'm coming from ?

Well I can and do agree that it would be much easier to be able to turn on or off many things from CP as Admin without having to sign in as that user.
So yes it would be nice to have the option available to change the setting without logging in as the user.
Though you could script it so that the e-mails are read to find a specific error and then run a command against the account to modify it all via a script.

You could just ignore those bounce mails That's pretty much what I do. Accepting the way it is is also a way to handle a problem A nice option would be to "never e-mail this user", a sort of e-mail address blacklist so that the board can never ever mail to that address. Also nice so that non-registered users can opt-out of posts being send by e-mail.

When do we draw a line though?
I remember a few years ago.....
I was at a party. There was a corkboard on the wall there. You know the sort of thing we all pin our notes on.
I read a headline off an advert pinned on the board. It read "Non Sexist Fairy Tales For Children" I said..... what's this? "Non Sexist Fairy Tales For Children" ???
(pretty much like that - I would have no-doubt highlighted or emphasised the words Non Sexist Fairy Tales For Children
Anyhow, the next thing I know, there is chinaware being seriously thrown at me from several sources. The Host (Good God you can't say Hostess!!!!) and her friends took exception to me reading the advert "in that fashion".
Ahh wimmin!
I left - and (honestly) everyone left with me.

Its all too easy to point out a script ect, but think about the Newbie Admin, or someone whos just getting started with threads, writing a script is probably way out of there comfort zone.
we need to be able to tick switch "Switch off E-mails" of user accounts that no longer have valid e-mail accounts.

we need to be able to tick switch "Switch off E-mails" of user accounts that no longer have valid e-mail accounts. Well I don't disagree with that, just saying that UBB is not going to know who has a valid e-mail or not. But once you already know then yes a check box to disable would be good.
