CONNECTS 10BASE2 THINNET COAX TO A 10BASE-T RJ45 NETWORK - Bridges an existing thin-Ethernet BNC segment to modern twisted-pair Ethernet at the full 10 Mbps of both standards. IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T and 10BASE2 compliant. Signals are regenerated, not passively coupled, so segment length and signal quality are preserved across the conversion.
BUILT-IN 50 OHM TERMINATOR SWITCH - A two-position switch terminates the BNC side internally, so no external BNC T-piece and 50 ohm terminating plug are needed at this end of the segment. Set it ON when the unit is the last device on the coax run, OFF when the segment continues through it.
HUB / WORKSTATION SWITCH - A second two-position switch sets the RJ45 side for connection either to a hub or switch port, or directly to a workstation NIC, without a crossover cable. Between the two switches the unit covers every position on a 10Base2 segment.
10 MBPS ONLY - THIS IS A PROTOCOL CONVERTER, NOT AN EXTENDER - Both 10BASE-T and 10BASE2 are 10 Mbps standards; the unit does not negotiate 100 or 1000 Mbps and does not increase the length of a copper run. If the requirement is distance rather than protocol conversion, a different product applies.
STATUS LEDS ON BOTH SIDES - Discrete indicators for link, activity, collision and power remove the guesswork when commissioning legacy plant, where the far end is often an instrument that gives no diagnostics of its own.
