Tested working Intel i740 AGP. An interesting point for trying out retro gaming on native hardware. The i740 paired with a 440BX board gives a great representation of what AGP intended to achieve over PCI graphics. While 3D accelerators had already exceeded the i740 in raw performance and image quality, the Intel card can still perform about on par with cards such as the Voodoo1 while having full D3D support and many more advanced filtering features. Because i740 relies entirely on system memory for AGP texturing having faster RAM can improve performance For the benchmark result shown in the photos I used PC100 SDRAM with a 100FSB Pentium II, essentially the fastest original pairing for the i740 to perform its best.
Drivers and software are available for download at TheRetroWeb page for this card.
The core has been repasted since the old paste had turned to chalk, but these chips don't get nearly as hot as some of the contemporary video cards. I tested in a case that has a side-intake fan pointed at the GPU slot which worked well to keep the card reasonably cool. Hot to the touch still, as expected, but not painful.
No box or accessories; GPU only. Please see photos for condition details.
