The Adtran Total Access® 5000 SM200 100GSwitch Module enhances the already robust,carrier-class switching capability of the TotalAccess 5000 Fiber Access, Aggregation, andTransport platform. Offering 2x40 and 2x100Gigabit Ethernet (40GE/100GE) network andring interfaces, the SM200 switch modulesimplifies upgrading FTTP networks to 10G Next-Gen PON. Additionally, it enables operatorsto extend the life of their ODN while providingan architecture that supports cost-effectivebusiness and backhaul services delivery atmultigigabit speeds.With the ability to be deployed in both CentralOffice and Remote Terminal locations, theSM200 100G Switch Module provides flexiblenetwork deployment options, easily scaling tosupport symmetric multi-Gigabit services forresidential, business and mobile applications,triple-play services, Metro Ethernet, and serviceaggregation using 40G/100G Network Interfacesand Ethernet Ring Protection Switching(ERPS) support for network transport.The Total Access 5000 SM200 Switch Moduleprovides four flexible interfaces on the faceplatewhich can be used in a variety of waysdepending on application needs. The SM200Switch Module has two Quad Small Form-FactorPluggable+ (QSFP+) optical interfacessupporting 10G/40G rates, and two QSFP28interfaces that support 40G/100G rates. Inaddition, ports of the same speed may be configuredto support IEEE 802.1ax link aggregationto increase the bandwidth between nodes ortoward the core network.The Total Access 5000 SM200 Switch Modulesupports ITU G.8032 ERPS which providesnetwork operators with the ability to createresilient 10G, 40G or 100G Ethernet rings withmultiple Total Access 5000 Nodes. ERPS givesoperators the ability to increase their networkfootprint and size while maintaining a singleaccess point to their IP/Ethernet core.To support Next-Gen 10G PON (XGS-PON andCombo PON) service delivery, the SM200 SwitchModule supports high-capacity Nx100G switchfabric and provides non-blocking connectivityto every access module slot. The increasedcapacity of the switch fabric for the TotalAccess 5000 SM200 Switch Module allowsoperators to scale both network and subscriberbandwidth for years to come—without a forkliftreplacement. The SM200 Switch Module issupported in all currently deployed Total Access5000 systems and is backward compatible withall existing Total Access 5000 access and linemodules.Like all Total Access 5000 Switch Modules, theSM200 provides traffic management featuresto support differentiated quality of service aswell as enhanced security features to protectuser data from external attacks. This switchmodule can be deployed either simplex orredundant to support even the most criticaltraffic.
