Offered here is a clean vintage 386-class motherboard built around a soldered AMD Am386DX-40 processor and the desirable ALi M1429/M1431 chipset combination. The board also has a complete 128KB bank of external cache memory installed.
This motherboard was working when it was removed from the tower in which it was installed. It has subsequently been stored inside an anti-static bag in a cool, dry environment. It has not been recently bench-tested, but it should work and is being sold as a working motherboard.

No RAM, 80387 math coprocessor, expansion cards, cables, manual, case, power supply, or other accessories are included. You will receive the exact motherboard and installed processor shown in the photographs.
Operational Condition
This motherboard was working when removed from its original tower. It has not been powered or bench-tested recently because we no longer maintain a complete period-correct AT test system.
The board is nevertheless being offered in Used, working condition, not as a parts or repair item. If it does not function upon arrival when connected to appropriate compatible hardware, it may be returned in accordance with the listing’s return policy.
As with any vintage motherboard, the buyer should use a known-good AT power supply, compatible 30-pin SIMM memory, appropriate ISA video hardware, and correct jumper settings during installation.
Cache Memory
The board has a complete 128KB external cache configuration installed. The four ISSI IS61C256AH SRAM chips provide 32KB each, while the smaller ISSI IS61C64AH device serves as tag SRAM.
This is real installed cache memory rather than empty sockets or decorative “fake cache” markings sometimes encountered on later budget motherboards.
BIOS and CMOS Battery Information
The motherboard includes its socketed Award Software system BIOS ROM.
No CMOS backup battery is currently installed. The original B1 rechargeable Ni-Cd battery footprint beside the DIN keyboard connector is unpopulated. This is generally preferable to leaving an aging barrel battery installed, since those batteries are well known for leaking and damaging vintage motherboards.
The board can operate without a battery, although its real-time clock and CMOS configuration may not be retained after power is disconnected. A knowledgeable restorer may add an appropriate external battery or properly isolated coin-cell solution if desired.
Physical Condition
The motherboard is in clean overall cosmetic condition for its age. There may be light dust, surface marks, oxidation, discoloration, or other normal evidence of previous installation and long-term storage.

Shipping and Packaging
The motherboard will be enclosed in an anti-static bag, supported with rigid cushioning, and packed inside a sturdy outer shipping carton. Particular care will be taken to protect the board, ISA slots, SIMM sockets, and exposed components during transit.
